I figured they would be the coaches but you never know. Its still going to be weird seeing Nog as a coach with his limited/decent English.

I'll repeat what I said on 5oz:
-Nog/Contender is not the worst thing for the UFC since the HW division is so weak.
-Mir might not be the #1 contender, but see my last point.
-My biggest beef is with the contestants: LHWs and LWs <-- Why another LW show??? The LW division is stacked right now!
Why not help beef up the HW division by featuring HWs this season? We haven't seen HWs on TUF since TUF 2.

I hear ya on the language bearier, but I think it'll work out. I'm a hands on, visual learner myself. Verbal communication does serve it purpose of course and I believe Nog will get his points across.

A season full of HWs is tricky. I don't think the HW champ/#1contender wants to spill all their secrets to other fellow HWs for obvious reasons. Having lighter weight classes teaching the big boys at HW wouldn't work to good imo either. It be arkward to spar and roll with the size differences. If anything, it benifits the smaller fighters practicing with big guys, versus the other way around.

Yeah, but it's not unprecedented to have a coach of the same weight class coach the teams. Actually, all but this season have. I see what you're saying about the "fighting secrets", but I think that the future of the division is more important than someone learning Nog's strategy (take a beating and then submit opponent )

Nog's strategy is bad ass lol. He gets the job done though.
All I know is that, it's hard to tell what the UFC is thinking half the time.

Looking across the most recently compiled top ten lists for UFC HWs on FF, I am surprised that more people are not upset about this move. That is to say- shouldn't the number one contender get the next title shot? I don't think it's very fair to Fabricio Werdum, for example, that he is getting skipped due to his lingual abilities. Being personable, funny or good on camera should not be a prerequisite for a title shot. Such is my argument against belt holders on TUF.

I agree with you, Drew.
However lacking in depth the HW division may be, I personally don't feel Mir has earned the right to the next title shot.
This was more of a business decision rather than who is more deserving.

So does this mean if Lesnar would have beaten Mir , he'd be getting the next title shot ?

They need HW's badly, if they were going to split weights, they should have done it with HW and LW so they get a couple heavies, but the show won't suck like it did in season 2.
Out of shape HW's are terribly boring.

Stranger things have happened. I'd like to see that if it had happened? What the PPV numbers for Lesnar/Nogueira wouldve been.

Pretty sure it was around 450k
I do not like this matchup at all. Mir is so overrated as a fighter so Nog should make quick work of him, but around a year for no title defenses? No thanks
