I have nothing but appreciation for the UFC and their Promotions. I know elitexc is a new company but they really need to clean up their show. Who cares for whores dancing their tits and ass off between rounds. It's a fight.. lets get in the corners and hear whats happening.. see what is happening.

for some reason i cant get used to other commentators now. goldie and joe have done a fantastic job of keeping the watchers informed. hell even kenny florian did a good job when rogan was away.
what really annoyed me is during the gina/kaitlin fight, gina was going for what looked like a gogoplata and i heard no announcer say it. someone also said gina was "out of shape" at 144 pounds lol. they're also so so corny. i feel like i'm watching WWE and jerry lawler is yelling into the mic.

I think you know the answer. And the statement that "He has done little for helping Zuffa grow" is one of the biggest misstatements I've ever heard. Either you're uninformed, or you're lying.

NJSAC? I do know the answer. SEG had long been lobbying to get away from the 'human cockfighting' misnomer and media blackout, and regulation was one way to do it and hopefully start making money again. Unified Rules were passed in April 2001, with Larry Hazzard Sr being one of the main proponents.

This ELiteXC card made me realize how much were spoiled by watching the UFC. XC is basically a cheap rip-off of UFC, only difference is the shape of the cage. (Seriously, they say they score the fights by striking, grappling, aggresion, and "cage" control. Total rip-off) Combine that with sideshow fights, crappy production values, horrible announcers, (Frank Mir > Frank Shamrock), and a lack of good fighters, and you got one stinky failure.
I have been a huge critisiser of Dana White, and the UFC, but now seeing what we could be watching, my mouth is shut. Thanks Dana!
I'm interested to see what the ratings of the Ultimate Iceman v the EliteXC card were. I switched back and forth, but spent a lot more time on the Ultimate Iceman thing.

I think Dana doesn't get enough credit. He has done so much for the sport and continues to put on the best shows with 95% of the best fighters.

He probably doesn't get a lot of credit because people focus on his loud mouth and controversial statements.

Never ceases to amaze me how blinded by bias some people can be. It's pretty funny. 'Done little to help Zuffa grow' - LMFAO!!
Tbh I think there are FAR more people that appreciate Dana and the work he has done than not. It's just that those who believe he has done a good job don't shove their beliefs down everyones throat at every given opportunity.
Even though I don't agree with every situation that he may have aggrevated/caused he has still done an incredible job for the sport as a whole. IMO the total demise of Pride was a great business move by Dana (even though they were doing a pretty good job themselves : P). Who wouldn't do the same? It's called business. Pretty machievellian world, but thats how it works. If you didnt already know that then you are pretty naive.

I appreciate the UFC events and production. I also appreciate the EliteXC.
Doesn't matter to me where the fights take place. I just want to see good fights.

Pitbull nailed it. I don't want to know anything about Dana White or Gary Shaw, the way I don't want to know anything about Roger Goodel or Bud Selig. STFU and put on the best fights.

Exactly, I would also like to see the UFC sign a network deal say w/ NBC or FOX and maybe go head to head w/ EliteXC. That way I could record both and watch them at my own liesure. I believe the UFC is the more professional of the 2 and I may like it better but I say the more fights the better so I want the EliteXC to maintain steam as well.....

No, I think most of us are mma fans, but we prefer the UFC...
This "Dana love thread" is just our way of thanking Dana white for getting together the best fighters in the world and for putting on one hell of a show.

Dana White does deserve appreciation for the product he puts out, along with helping revive MMA (along with the Fertitta's) although he clearly doesn't do it alone.
The State Athletic Commissions which reinstated MMA (after various rule changes that were greatly needed) deserves some credit as well.
Elite XC, along with Gary Shaw and CBS also get my appreciation for providing another avenue for fighters to compete.
The problem(s) I have with Dana White is his attitude in general. Where would you see a President of a large organization hoping one of his fighters gets the crap kicked out of him? Could you imagine Gary Bettman (NHL Commish) going on National TV and saying "I hope Detroit beats the hell out of Pittsburgh". Okay, he doesn't like Tito anymore, we understand that. But seriously, at least TRY to be a professional. And you want to box with him?
To whomever said that Elite XC is closer to WWE programming may indeed be correct.
But I'll say this. Dana White is the Vince McMahon of the MMA world.

I love to watch UFC, i love to watch EliteXC, i love to watch dream. I don't care about it all.
And what about the WWE thing? Do you all forget how many people in the states love WWE? MMA can never become WWE, because it is real. The people are real. Everything is real. But the fireworks and stuff, i think it is really smart. People like it, it makes it easier to make the step WWE-MMA and it just works.
So i think this thread is bull**** to be honest. It is ok to thank Dana, and if you want to thank him, put an e-mail out to the UFC. But don't thank him because EliteXC did so bad in your eyes. Because from wich ever point you look at it. EliteXC also puts MMA on the map. And that is the most important.

The fireworks and cheerleaders were pure BS, horrible, and bad for the sport, and there's no arguing about it, because those production values have been bad for every new sport that has tried to become mainstream, with the XFL being the poster child, and the Arena Football League coming in a close second. If you compare that to something like NASCAR, which is now the biggest racing circuit in the country, the production values were very, very different. Instead of hyping the danger and the spectacle, the people at NASCAR sold the drivers, the sport, and the flavor of their brand of racing. This is the approach the UFC is taking, which means it might take a little longer to become a household name, but it's the only way it will ever become a household name to begin with. the EliteXC treatment will have MMA being compared to Slamball, and Dana and the Fertitas know this.
Again, thanks Dana, for not ruining this sport!
