Rashad Evans vs Brad Imes
Heavyweight Final - Rashad Evans vs Brad Imes
What where the judges looking at in round 3. The way I saw it Imes had that round all the way. I believe that due to Imes short history in MMA circut, he was not award the contract. He never gave up. Rashad was barely standing on he own half way throught the second round. Imes was the underdog but come on now.

Rahsad also connected with the most punches and knocked Brad on his butt twice. Rashad was the cleaner fighter and LANDED way more punches.

If Brad can't defend a WAY smaller guy like Rashad, that says enough about him to me. Rashad won hands down. He would have won by stoppage by any other ref. Props to Herb for not stopping it early. I think that Rashad could beat most of the HW's in UFC and Brad would surely struggle with most if not all of them. Brad is just not ready.

Rashad won the first 2 rounds but lost the 3rd. UFC uses the points system so thats why Rashad won. I think Rashad won overall though Imes showed improvement but his size is what kept him standing and is what made rashad tired.

I had Imes winning one of the first two rounds and he was winning the third untill Rashad dropped him. Close fight. Brad came back but in the third but it wasn't enough for two out of the three judges or me for that matter to win him the round. It could have gone either way.

in my mind, Brad worked harder and won round 2 and 3. all rashad did was knock brad down a few times. brad tackled him and had a bunch of good flurries. besides i hate rashad because of that fight with tom

All he did was knock him down a few times? Thats a hell of a tough task to do against someone with a hell of a lot longer reach and who is 8" taller than you. And you demorlize it? Get outa here!

So then you may be just a little biased then, right? Rashad won. Not easily but he got beat up and tackling someone and having good flurries doesn't win a fight. Not in my mind at least.

Just read this on MMA Weekly.

"I've always had a good relationship with Brad as I was fortunate to call his very first fight in WEC. I just touched base with him early Sunday afternoon to have him on our website that night. We talked about his amazing fight and he told me he had a broken nose and hand earlier that day, but was upbeat in the loss. When I called him later that night to confirm, he was understandably shaken and he told me the bad news. I was heart broken for him. She was too young to pass on. I'm devestated for Brad."
The UFC gave this official statement from their website. "Zuffa sends its sincerest condolences to Ultimate Fighter finalist Brad Imes on the loss of his mother, Carolyn Elizabeth Imes, who passed away suddenly from a heart attack on Sunday, November 6th in Las Vegas. She was 56. Carolyn, a native of Kansas City, Missouri, was in attendance for Brad's courageous effort against Rashad Evans on Saturday night, and our thoughts and prayers are with Brad and the entire Imes family during this difficult time..."

I really feel sorry for Brad and his family. And I send them my best wishes.

I bet we see Brad back in the Octagon. He has only been at it 14 months and if one of the training gyms will take him under their wings he he could develop into a good MMA fighter. He seemed to hold up well.
I feel bad for him though on the passing of his mother, that is heart-breaking.

I really didn't even see the fight (points wise) as close. I felt Rashad rested a little in round 2 (and paid a price a little) so I gave that round to Imes (I nearly had it an even round). The other two rounds I gave to Rashad hands down.
A clearly smaller guy with shorter reach putting down a MUCH bigger dude with MUCH bigger reach is a DOMINANT performance in my opinion. You agree?

We all feel sad about this. Brad is a really likeable guy, it was so great his family was all there to support him at the Finale. It's a terrible loss to him and his family.
