well, at least he didn't drop any F bombs. Dana didn't really elaborate on why the elite xc show was Horrendous, so there really wasn't much to take away from this interview.

Is there really anything Dana could say that has'nt already appeared on a message board somewhere? I wish Dana had said more but this was the first i've heard Dana say anything about it.

No he didn't really have to say more, but I still would have liked to hear more about what specifically he thought was wrong with the event.

The interviewer was already pushing buttons, saying "This is a UFC vs EliteXC thing eh?" and I was pretty shocked to see Dana show at least some level of restraint. I'm just glad guys like Jim Rome are going to bat for the sport on ESPN. Today was the second day in a row he featured MMA in his "What Rome is Burning on" segment of his show. And, I noticed a commercial for the new season of TUF during PTI, which I don't believe I've ever seen a UFC commercial on ESPN in that time slot before.
As bad as people are saying the show was on Saturday night, MMA has already scored 10x the exposure this week on ESPN than it has all year combined. As long as the MMA purists continue to have an outlet for their voices, the EliteXC/CBS deal is the best thing since "Sliced" bread to happen to MMA. Hey, at least other promotors will have an idea of what not to do, and MMA will continue to score new fans.

It's no surprise that Dana wants to bash anything in MMA that's not the UFC. The EliteXC show wasn't the best show ever - but it also wasn't as bad as a lot of people are making it seem. Sure there were a bunch of bad stoppages, but up until the bad stoppages I thought the fights themselves were all good. That's just my opinion anyway.
By the way, we are all still waiting for the UFC to appear on one of the major broadcast networks. Maybe if Dana worked harder and signed a deal before EliteXC then the debut of MMA on one of the major networks would have been better. So yeah, I would say that what was considered by some people to be a lackluster debut of MMA on broadcast television is all Dana's fault.

The big issue has been about the production. I think it's a smart move by Dana to remain stubborn on this issue. If the show is going to be a representation of the company and MMA, you want your staff who has the experience producing the quality shows the fans are used to.

I just dont like that Brett Rodgers called Kimbo's performance garbage legitimately at the press conference, then ELITEXC fires Brett Rodgers.
It was a little C.S. move IMO.

Was it ever proved more than a rumor that Rodgers got fired?

What dana did is smart, he didnt jump the gun & crap like that. He is building ufc still now as though it was a newborn production.
First the sponsers then live television.
One step at a time & thanks to xc imo mma has taken a step back.
Only fight I seen worth a **** was lawler until the eye **** happened.

If that is true then EliteXC is protecting Kimbo by firing the guy that called him out and just has phony written all over it if that is what happenned. I really hope that it is just a rumor.....

Coverage of MMA is really going to rise now that we have events on network TV. All Dana needs to do now is to keep his mouth out of the gutter and continue to keep high production standards for the WEC and UFC. As long as that happens, people will realize where the professionals play.
