Im brazilian and I speak both english and portuguese, so I can give another take on the matter.
I just saw the other thread: Lyoto Machida : "Quinton won the fight" and I couldnt help it, but feel that it was badly translated, I thought about repplying on it in the middle of those 40 pages but... now the damage has been made.
The TS translated it like "I think UFC gave the win to Forrest because the UFC want Chuck to be the next champion" when in reality it wasnt what Machida said. The TS created a link of cause and consequence that clearly doesnt exist in the original portuguese quote.
When you read what the TS of the other topic translated, the guy cuts 4 sentences into 3 sentences and does so implying that Machida said that UFC rigged the decision just so they could give the title shot to Liddell.
I will go straight to the main point.
Machida said in portuguese:
"Olha, para mim o Quinton ganhou do Forrest, mas deram para o Forrest.
Acho que agora eles casam a luta com o Chuck Liddell para ele levar o título.
Acho que eles querem que o Liddell fique com o título, é um ex-campeão, tem mais marketing e vende mais”
wich translates in english to:
"Look, to me Quinton won (the fight against) Forrest, but they (the judges) gave (the decision victory) to Forrest.
And now I think that they will settle the (title) fight with Chuck Liddell (next) ,for him to take the title. I feel that they want Liddel to stay with the title (in the end), he is an ex-champion, he has more marketing and sells more"
He is not implying that UFC rigged the decision and gave the title to Forrest as the TS of the other thread made it look like.
Machida is just saying that he doesnt agree with the judges. Thats the first sentence.
THEN he proceeds to analize whats next based on the result of the fight!
He said that since Forrest won, they will likelly to give the next title shot to Chuck Liddell, for the obvious reasons: Chuck is an ex-champion, more popular, sells more.
No I dont think that. But I'm not jumping on the bandwagon that many MMA fans are with Forrest thinking that he just outright beat Rampage.

He played a point sparring strategy, and it worked.

Yeah, big conspiracy when the majority of the people and 3 judges think Forrest won. Perhaps if it were just one group, meaning the judges or the people, then your argument would hold more weight. But when the majority of the people and ALL 3 judges had Forrest winning........
Yeah, Forrest dinked and kicked his way to victory. A victory, however, is still a victory.
this is getting lame... there is no conspiracy... he lost and his fans are having trouble dealing with it... if forrest lost there would have been a conspiracy... regardless in a UNNAMIMOUS DECISION, forrest wins... thats it, move on and hope for a rematch and another great fight!

That's the average MMA % of people who agree Forrest won.
Most people, Like me, feel strongly it was a draw.

BTW, I think I'm gonna have to root for Rashad now, because I want to jump on TUF bandwagon too, and feel Rashad is being ignored and dissed in favor of Forrest preferentially.

& were exactly did you get your %? again it doesnt matter forrest won its over & if they fight again and forrest wins again even if its a knock out or sub you and your fellow page supporters im sure will come on here and say something like * oh he slipped or he got thumbed in the eye blah blah blah*

One thing I liked about his post fight press conference is he admitted he's the first champ not really good at any one thing, but that whoever he fights? They'd better be ready for 25 minutes.

Reason being, lidell fights with his hands apart and his chin slightly exposed as well as he doesnt defend his legs well & this is why rampage owns lidell because page has just as much power as lidell but he doesnt leave himself open like lidell.
So basically since forrest was able to shock page a few times * not stunned or hurtt him badly* but he did land some well placed shots I think lidell will lose if he doesnt come in prepared.

24% felt it was a draw, and 20 something else Rampage won, and a few percent had no opinion, just a good fight.

Forest played a point getting strategy and it worked, hu? That is freaking ridiculous!!!!!! Forest tried to take the fight! I wish he would have kept with his combos that were doing a lot of damage and he had Rampage against the fence. ALL RAMPAGE did was countered when FOREST engaged. He tried to counter with a big shot...that's it!!!! He didn't win the freaking fight. He did not attack Forest.
I just don't get all this nonsense that Rampage won! I hope Forest crushes him again in the rematch.
I thought Rampage had clearly won, but I'm not going to say Forrest didn't deserve it, it was a very close fight and Forrest got the judges vote, I don't score fights for a living so I won't argue with that decision, Rampage seems to be the only one not arguing the decision from what I've seen, I may be wrong though.
