Matt Hughes apparently not impressed with GSP's performance

I think he (Hughes) is just playing mind games with GSP right now. George is probably my favorite fighter but all in all his greatest weakness is when someone gets in his head. I used to like Hughes but antics have caused me to very much dislike the guy.

Considering that Matt Hughes has lost 3 of his last 4 fights and 2 of those to GSP he needs to get back in win column or it could be bye-bye Matty. Maybe his time has come and gone .Only time will tell.

He went on to say that because of the fight with Fitch, GSP lost his ranking as one of the top pound for pound fighters!!! And that right after saying that he left during the third round and consequently did not even see the whole match. Okay, folk, Hughes is a complete fool. He is a joke and he is going to destroy his legacy if he keeps saying irrational bs. Obviously he is jealous and cannot accept GSP's utter rise and domination. Probably JC is not giving him enough light to see clearly.

Jealousy is what it is all about. He can't stand not being the baddest ww in the world anymore. I don't want to pass judgement on his faith but from what I've seen of his actions and attitudes I seriously wonder how authentic it really is.

I just dont get why everyone is so upset by what he said. Its no different than what we do everyday on FF. The major exception is Hughes actually fights. Im not a Hughes fan by far. I think he normally cocky and hypocritical but this time Im ok with what he said. If he was on a sports network or was writing for a magazine then maybe I would feel different but he wrote this in his blog. Its his opinion whats the big deal

Well, I have a problem with anyone stating an opinion on something he is not informed. He sounded stupid talking about GSP's "poor performance" and then admitting that he left during the third round. His anger and envy blind him so much that he fools himself into believing that GSP did actually have a poor performance. I guess he keeps telling himself that to boost his own ego.

How can you not have a problem with that? On average people in FF are certainly better informed than he was in this occasion.

Yeah, the problem with him saying that is, as earvin pointed out, he was misinformed and coming from him it's hard to believe it's anything but envy and jealousy.

Maybe its time for Matt Hughes to retire & get into the priesthood as judging by his last few fights he has become a has been & is unable to back up his huge mouth with huge takedowns anymore.............Matt hughes is a myth now & has become a parody of his own self.

well you have to ask yourself if GSP dominated more in the first 2 or last 2 rounds? but I see your point. Maybe he just doesnt have a high opinion of Fitch. Matt Hughes is one of the most arrogant fighters right up there with my boy Tito. Coincidentally they were both dominant champs that game has passed by.

lol...yeah, there's arrogance there too on his part. Fitch would've beat Hughes down. Hughes needs to retire. He'll never regain the belt and only be a stepping stone for newcomers.

In the past that could be the case but in seeing Hughes' last several fights, you gotta give the advantage to Fitch. Hughes is merely a shell of his former self.

If gsp could not finish fitch on the ground then its obvious that hughes with less gnp skill & power then gsp would not finish fitch.

Hughes was never a great stand up guy either so in this case I would have to vote towards fitch.
