MMANEWS.COM | Matt Hughes Apparently Not Impressed WIth GSP's Performance

In his most recent blog posting, former UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Hughes says he left half way through the main event of UFC 87 between The Champ, Georges St. Pierre and challenger, Jon Fitch.

The last fight of the night was Georges and Fitch. Georges didn’t look as big as he has before and he seemed like he had gotten tired from the first round. Fitch had the game plan of countering Georges and you just can’t do that. You can’t counter a quicker fighter. To be honest, halfway in the third round I got up and walked out of the arena and went to my hotel. The fight wasn’t the most exciting and I wanted to get out of there before everyone else was getting up to leave.

I guess Matt wants to get his ass kicked by GSP yet again?

Holy crap I can't believe this, matt is the one guy I cannot stand in mma but he frigging had some of the same ideas I had.
Blah now im sick.

I said it before in a previous thread that I thought gsp looked smaller & I also didn't think kenflo or huerta fought as good as they normally do.

I think gsp was wearing down as well in stamina but not after the first round, more around the 3rd and this might be why he didn't finish fitch.

I am not taking anything away from him but it did seem a little different of a gsp.

I still think he is to focused on wrestling over his bjj.

Just a thought but maybe GSP looked smaller because Fitch was bigger than him? One of them there optical illusions... and who the heck is Hughes to critique Fitchs gameplan when he just lost two of the most one sided fights I've seen to GSP.

I thought this fight was great, a little one sided but damn a fire wouldn't of made me stop watching the third round.

It was a good fight but gsp did slow down by the 3rd & was eating more punches then the first 2 rounds but hell its a fight who wouldn't be tired.

GSP im sorry but was smaller then normal, his muscle tone wasn't thats for sure LOL but you could see it in his face & everything which may have been a good thing cause he was fast that night.

thats one of the first things i had said in the spoiler thread and i thought i was the only one who noticed because it went completely ignored. its also why i said that GSP isnt as far ahead of BJ as fans like to think

except i would say that it was near the end of the second when he noticeably began to slow down

not that he is out of shape or anything, but he does NOT keep up this mythical frantic pace everyone claims he does...he does slow down because its wise or else hed gas like everyone else would

and yes he was eating a **** load of punches, his hands had really lowered by the beginning of round three

Yeah...true that^^^^

Matt should shut that hole on his face he calls a mouth. He's the last person that should have some thing to say about the GSP\Fitch fight. At least Fitch lasted all five rounds with GSP, Matt on the other hand got his ass handed to him twice in a row on a silver platter by GSP.

I think Matt is looking for another A$$$$$$ WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOPIN by GSP. Some people just don't know when to keep their piehole shut!

By the third it was clear that Fitch had no chance to win, not a big deal to leave at that point. However, if Hughes thinks he can do better he's delusional.

Yep his face didn't get those marks by its self lol.

Nothing being taken away from gsp at all but rarely do you see someone go 5 rounds and not gas some.

That's what happens when you fight someone with an almost equal skill level, it's like saying Heath Herring didn't look good against Lesner, only in the case of Kenny and Roger neither took much punishment and sorta canceled each other out, Florian just being a little bit smarter

-Nowhere does it say that Matt thinks he could do better
-He critiqued a game plan just like everyone does here on the boards
-Georges did seem to tire a little bit, whether that was the case for not it is still something to be observed
-He thought the fight wasn't that exciting

Am I missing something? Is there anything here to get that wild up about?

Its matt being matt. He has an opinion about EVERYTHING, and its usually negative.

Im no fan at all but like most of the time Matt speaks I agree with him.
I found the fight not that exciting myself to be honest but then again I was actually disapointed with many matches this evening.

So he can´t beat GSP in the Octagon and now wants to make notice of himself by saying stupid ****. This dude is not liked for good reasons.

Nothing to get wild about no, but kinda ironic after Matt had such a tantrum after GSP said that he wasnt impressed by his (Matt's) performance.

Doubly ironic by the fact that GSP's performance was far more impressive than Hughes' was in the 2nd Penn fight.
