Default Dana White's an idiot

Nate Quarry should not have even been in that ring. He only got there because of TUF and that fight proved it. There were plenty of other fighters that deserved that fight more than he did. Dana White is an idiot for booking that fight and Quarry got his had knocked off because of it. Props to Quarry for taking it like a man, but he was severely out gunned in that match-up.

Good point, but to be honest I thought Quarry was going to win

Rich Franklin could have done that with anyone. It's always easy to criticize after a fight, but if Quarry would have won, everyone would be talking how Dana is a genius.

That KO could have happened to anyone. Quit talking about Quarry not deserving to be there, and start talking about Rich truly deserving to be there..

That's how I look at it.

Nate had three KOs in the UFC. Lindland was suppose to get the shot but got exiled. So they thought give it to his teamate. Nate deserved his shot. I think Dana was also making the point that the TUF fighters aren't getting fed wimps.

That fight went exactly how I predicted, just a complete ass whoopin. There were plenty of other people that deserved it more than Quarry. If they wanted to just prove that they arent being fed wimps, then why not have him fight someone else that isnt a title holder? Nothing against Nate Quarry at all, of course he's going to accept the fight, I just dont think it should have been offered in the first place.

Nate Quarry is a B fighter until proven other wise. Rich Franklin is an A level fighter. Just my 2 cents, nothing against Quarry thats for sure, especially since he's a hometown boy!

If he had 3 KO's against top level guys, then I would agree that he deserved the fight.

Interesting point on the rest of your post, I wonder if that is indeed why he got the fight.

First off, the matchmaking is done solely by Joe Silva. Always has been, always will be. He is extremely well respected in the MMA community.

Quarry was slated to be in the UFC well before the 1st TUF. He just happened to get the opportunity with the reality show and took it due to his relationship with Randy Couture. I agree that his first three opponents in the UFC were not the strongest (though Sell is pretty good) and it may have been a bit premature to get a shot this quickly. But he is getting older and if there are all these other fighters who were worthy of the title shot, who were they? And don't mention Lindland or Salaverry, since both were let go and not under contract. The Crow is out since he just fought Tanner. He's the next challenger anyway. So what other fighters currently on the UFC roster are better choices?

Its easy to slam the guy's talent after he suffered a loss like that. But in doing that, you are not giving enough credit to the champ, Rich Franklin.

Exactly. Who was Franklin supposed to fight? Loiseau and Tanner were both out of the picture. Nate Marquardt is dealing with the steroid stuff still, so he is out. Lindland was supposed to be the man, but he got the boot after UFC 54 I think.

Who else would you put in there? Exactly. There wasn't anyone else at the time. Jeremy Horn is in the MW division now, and Leben is getting better. If Baroni makes his way back to the UFC, the division will start stacking back up. But there just wasn't anyone at the time besides Quarry. And like Gygax said, Quarry was supposed to be in the UFC a long time ago. The guy can fight, he just didn't get it done against Franklin.

I don't think that there was anyone else to fight Rich for this event. With Marquart having the Roids issues. Salavarry and Lindland out of the UFC, and Tanner and The Crow fighting each other not that long ago.

Nate Quarry had a few impressive showings and these days people are getting shot after one or two good showings. You can't tell me that Riggs was any more deserving of a shot at Matt (or Rich for that matter) than Quarry was. (Although Karo was.) Or that Paul and Eilers were more deserving of a shot at AA.

And it's not like that punch that Rich used to end the fight wouldn't have knocked 99 our of 100 people on the planet out.

Rich already beat tanner twice and didnt he already beat the Crow? i dont see anything wrong with this fight. i do think the Crow should get the next shot and then horn. Rich is gonna be on top for a while.

Rich hasn't beaten "The Crow". It would be a fresh match up.

Rivera I believe is Rich and David's only common fighter, with Rich winning and David losing.
