Sources: Burkman v. Sell at 90
Both of these guys really need a win. He's had a few decisions himself but for some reason I don't think Drago will leave this one to the judges (one way or the other)...5 out of Burkman's last 6 have gone to a decision.
Quote:
"The Ultimate Fighter 4" middleweight contestant Pete "Drago" Sell (7-4 MMA, 1-4 UFC) will drop to welterweight to fight "TUF 1" alumnus Josh Burkman (9-6 MMA, 5-4 UFC) at October's UFC 90 event.
Sources close to both fighters today confirmed the upcoming bout with MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com) and said that bout agreements were recently signed.
UFC 90 takes place at Allstate Arena near Chicago and airs live on pay per view.
News of the Burkman-Sell fight first surfaced after Sell's training partner, former UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra, mentioned the bout in an interview with TriStateFighter.com.
The fight will appear on the night's un-televised preliminary card.
Sell, who hasn't fought since September of last year, will look to snap a four-fight losing streak in the UFC. Since defeating Phil Baroni in his octagon debut, Sell, who served as an assistant coach for Matt Serra on "The Ultimate Fighter 6" in 2007, has suffered losses to middleweights Nate Quarry (twice), Scott Smith and Thales Leites.
Burkman, meanwhile, will look to snap a two-fight losing streak of his own. After a lackluster majority-decision loss to Mike Swick at UFC Fight Night 12 in January, Burkman then suffered a second-round submission loss to Dustin Hazelett back in June. Prior to the defeats, Burkman was on the fringe of the welterweight title picture with three victories in four fights. He may now be fighting for his future in the organization.
For the latest on UFC 90, which features a main event of UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva vs. Patrick Cote, check out the MMA Rumors section of MMAjunkie.com.

Good stuff, I like this fight as I would like Burkman to pick up the win. He's a warrior and always brings it. As long as he avoids the big shot I think his best option would be to ground and pound his way to a TKO or a decision victory.

I don't like Sell and personally believe he shouldn't be fighting in the UFC. His only win in the UFC is a very mediocre Baroni which if memory serves was a submission after getting beaten on for most of the fight. Aside from that he has been finished three times and decisioned once in the UFC and he still has the nerve to talk trash about better fighters. Send him to the WEC and let him lose there.

I agree with Ztous. I'm not a fan of Sell and Burkman. I like the dude, but I dunno if he's UFC caliber yet based on his last few fights.
Def a must win for him.
This fight doesent pump my nag, but whatever.

I don't mind either of these guys. They've both had their issues and this is a decent fight to start getting back on track. I'll be pulling for the New Yorker here.

Drago vs Burkman at UFC 90
I heard it through the "grapevine" today that Pete Sell will be making his 170lb debut at UFC 90 in October against Josh Burkman....You heard it hear first folks! I think he will have a noticeable strength advantage over a lot of WW's, should be exciting!

This fight truly means nothing in the WW division. These two guys don't even play the role of WW "gatekeeper." This is only for TUF diehards.

I guess you could just watch the fight and enjoy it. I don't need something to have title ramifications to simply enjoy a good fight. That's just me though.

this could be a good fight. I hope Drago can be successful at WW. The guy goes out there and bangs. Granted that might not be the best game plan but you know he is trying to end it from the word go. And I like that!

How did I miss this? Please oh Please grant me another "Pete Sell gets posterized" KO!! C'Mon Burkman, drop 'im like a bad habit! I love seeing Pete get knocked silly. It has a comic book appeal and look to it.......
And if we could only add Matt Serra ringside yelling
"He's getting despewate Jawage".... "He's getting despewate!" for no apparent reason it would complete the perfect picture.

No, not at all BL. I just love seeing Pete Sell get knocked spinning and hearing Matt Serra tawk funny.
"Jawage! Jawage, get up Jawage!"
We all get our amusement from different sources. YMMV.
