If you notice him sparring with a balding elderly gentleman in the middle of the clip. I'd say he is in good hands.

Thats pretty interesting!! Its very similar to what they do in Russia, but instead of tape and a snorkel they just hold thier breath. Training the body to work with limited oxygen. Makes sense, because like Silva was saying in the video sometimes you get a busted nose and can only get air through your mouth. These guys are at such a high level that this extreme type of training may be what it takes to give that tiny edge over an equally skilled opponent. Worst that can happen is you pass out.

The snorkel pic is a must for this thread.

I have to say Wandy's training is some of the craziest I have seen. The snorkel picture says it all. Good call on the experts tw0mey they must have everything on lock.

I used to train like this for running...

its basically like training at the summit of Mt Everest. Your body becomes super-efficient in transporting oxygen to your muscles.

Now, when he fights WITHOUT the snorkle, his blood will be able to transport LOADS of oxygen to the body

its not bad for you.

Lots of guys including F. Shamrock and Cung Le shell out thousands of dollars for expensive equipment to do the same thing and Silva just goes all ghetto with a snorkel from the dollar store and some noseplugs and tape. Classic.
