Rampage Jackson: “I’ve lost respect for Forrest Griffin as a man.”
Rampage Jackson says he hasn’t heard anything from the UFC regarding a rematch with Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua.
Speaking to Fighters Only earlier today, he said: “I didn’t know anything about Shogun, I was trying to get Wanderlai Silva, I was told I might be fighting him.”
“But to be honest with you, I don’t really give a damn who I fight, I just want to fight and show the world that Rampage is the best when he gets the best elements around him and the best training.”
But one fight he definitely does want is a rematch with Forrest Griffin, after losing a controversial decision – and he light-heavyweight belt - to him last month.
Regarding that fight, he says: “I just want my fans to know, I was at my worst and Forrest was at his best - and I still beat him.
He added: “A man is not a man if he can’t ‘fess up to when he gets his ass kicked. See me, if I get my ass kicked I am like ‘yeah, I got my ass kicked’.
However, Jackson says that when he said those exact words at the end of the fight in July, “I was being sarcastic, because I really could not believe that it went the way it did”.
“I’m not a sore loser, **** happens. But I was hoping that Forrest would be a man and come out and say ‘You know what, I didn’t win that fight’, especially after he watched it.
“I wasn’t really sure, right at the end of the fight... I know he hurt me and punched me in the face a couple of times but I was bobbing and weaving and making him miss, stuff like that.
“I was hoping that he would come out later after he saw the fight and say ‘yeah, I saw the fight and I lost that fight.”
Jackson says that he has “lost a lot of respect” for Griffin in the wake of the fight, largely because the new champion has not been talking of a rematch despite winning the belt in controversial fashion.
“After the fight, I said ‘I’ve got to give you a lot of respect, because you hurt my leg and you had a good game plan’,” he explains.
“But now, I don’t respect him as a man. Because if it was me, I would have said, ‘I have to give him a rematch right away, to remove all doubt’.
“I’m a man and when you fight it’s all about honour. I’m not angry at him or anything, don’t get me wrong, but I’ve lost respect for him as a man.”

Sounds like Rampage is losing respect for people all around. He's seems to be heading down a dark road.

Forrest wasn't overly impressive, but he won the fight.
Rampage should have done more if he didn't want the fight to end in "controversy."

I'm tending to lose respect for Rampage. He says that he thinks that Forrest should man up and say that Rampage won. Well, what if Forrest Griffin thinks he won also (like guestimating 65 percent of the viewers.)
Forrest and his team thought it was close but felt they won the fight. If you have a problem with that work your butt off and get back into the cage and prove them otherwise.

Yeah, you don't sound like a sore loser at all.
This is ridiculous.

It was close, but I thought Forrest won the fight. These comments by Rampage make me lose what little respect I had left for him. He's the one who should own up to the fact that he lost.

I scored it a draw myself.
Rampage is one of the sorest looser I have witness in mma.
For every loss he got on his record he is bashing the other fighter(Silva/Shogun/Forest).
Forest said right after the fight that they proberly had to do it again, that should be good enough.I think Forest shows great sportmanship and I don`t understand what Rampage are whining about.

Wow, It appears that MMA has its first official "Mike Tyson" on its hands. The guy is still in the process of dealing with what could have been a very tragic day and now he's lost respect for Forrest as a man?! Does he not know how many people have lost respect for him as he continues to open his mouth and say things like this? So yeah, he's Ok but continues to allow something in the past to rule his words and actions. This just makes him sound like he's living in his own little world and maybe he is.

I still think Rampage won that fight. But that does make it ok to come out and bash Forrest like this. You'd think Page would be keeping his mouth shut with a lot of peoples opinions about him already dropping.

Very good points.
I am not really sure if he should be doing mma anymore.........
Seems like he takes it way to serious.
He should lissen some to Huerta who says its just a fight.
Rampae should worrie more about allmoust killing a bunch of people.

So you weren't hobbling around for half the fight barely able move forward?
Rampage should quit while he's ahead because he's losing fans rapidly and not for nothing. I hope they give him Silva again, he won't be able to make these type of accusations if (or when more to the point) he gets knocked out.

Man Rampage is becoming delusional. It seems he also does not release that he might be bunking with Bubba for a few years if the 2 felonies hold up which they should.
I hope the feed him to Silva or Rua so he can hopefully go off quietly into the night.
Lest he forget he stole a victory from Arona, after being KO'ed and then uses a headbutt to knock Arona out.
He has quickly gone from a favorite fighter to a mere annoyance.

Exactly. I'm sure he gained all kind of respect from Forrest with that "bobbing and weaving" through traffic.

Exactly. And this is making me lose respect for him.
This sucks.

I'm confused about why everyone is hating on Rampage for this, he's doing what he has to do in order to get a rematch ASAP so whats the big deal? In all fairness though, whenever a title fight is that close, the winner usually does ask for a rematch except in this case although we havn't even heard Forrest speak yet.
Although Rampage came off as a jerk in a lot of things he said, I bet this will make Forrest stand up and ask for the rematch, which is excactly what Rampage wants, most fighters would do the same.

If he wants a rematch all he has to do is ask Forrest for a rematch. There is no need for him to act like a sore loser and try to discredit Forrest's win. Total lack of class by Rampage.
