Default controversial ufc decisions

Just curious what decisions you guys thought over the years were bad in the UFC, and why....

the tanner\baroni fiasco comes into mind when they fixed his cut before the doctor had a chance to end the fight...

just watched tito\vitor, dont really think theres any question, as did the announcers and eddie bravo... seemed to clearly be 29 28 tito..
anything else??

The biggest b.s. stoppage I have ever seen in any organization was a recent one. Quarry/Sell at the UFN a little while back.

Whoa i was thinking the exacte same thing when i saw this topic! That ultimate fight night match with nate quarry, i think it was nate's last fight before rich.

Yeah nate connects with a punch, the guy falls and its ended. I always thought it could have went on and the other guy could still have defended himself well on the ground.

The punch nate gave him did not look very hard either, i thought the guy might've slipped. Either way in my opinion that match was far from a KO and could've gone MUCH longer.

Referee's make mistakes too....

I am trying to remember the one I was thinking of. The ref stopped the fight and one of the fighters pushed or threw a jab at the ref, I can't remember who it was though. The ref was asking him if he was ok on the ground and they said don't stop the fight and the ref heard something else and stopped it. Miscommunication. Who was that fighting? I will find out and re-post.

I am fairly sure that you are talking about Phil Baroni.

Yeah it was Baroni/Tanner I. Landless said he heard Baroni say he quit. Verbal stoppages are in the rules and Baroni had no right to throw that jab.

The only time I've ever been pissed at a referee was Royce/Yoshida I. I say it was more Yoshida's fault, but the referee shouldn't take a fighter's word for it.

I don't know if Baroni quit or not. If he didn't then I would say he had a right to be angry but even then he didn't have a right to throw a punch.

I have a question for any Pride watchers out there, what did you think of the stoppage on the Sak/Shamrock fight (this is a Pride question but it relates to the subject and I don't think it warrants it's own thread in the Pride section)?

Y'know, I've watched the end of that fight countless times and I personally believe that Baroni was out of it and thought he was still trying to defend against Tanner. There's no way for me to prove it but that's just what it seemed like to me.

That stoppage has been beaten to death. There is a huge thread on it in the Pride section.

I havn't beaten it to death yet. And there are all kinds of other member who havn't yet either. Just because you don't want to talk about it anymore dosn't mean we don't want to. If you don't then just stay away from this thread.

I think [Danny] is talking about the Shamrock/Sak fight there is a huge thread in Pride section about it. Pretty good thread though.

Then go and continue it in the Pride thread. It belongs there because it was a Pride match. Hell, I didn't talk in it that much, so I could give a rat's ass if you talk about it more.

He asked if anybody else talked about it. I just told him there is like an 80 post thread already on it and that he should talk about it there if he wants to.

I wasn't being mean by any means. I didn't mean to come off as an ass Bellyflip. Sorry. . .

No worries guys, it doesn't matter, it was my mistake. This is the UFC forum and I wasn't coming on just after the Sak/Shammy fight so I didn't realize there was a whole thread dedicated to it. No biggie, it happens.

Tito vs. Vitor was bs in my opinion. I know the hardcore Tito fans will argue that it was the right decision to their last breath. But the thing is I am a Tito fan (at least a former one but was at the time of the fight) and I still thought Vitor won. But hey I'm not a judge so what the hell do I know?

Also I thought of another thing. Randy vs. Rizzo I was bs as well. I think even Randy thought he lost that one when they were about to announce the decision.

What did you guy's think of the match when Matt hughes won the belt i believe, i'm not sure of the other guy's name but the black guy . i'm thinking it was for the belt and matt won. But this is how it went, matt picked him up, and the guy had his legs around mat's head, mat held him against the ropes for awhile it seemed, then he dropped and the other guy slammed his head and got knocked out. but later on the guy said that he ( matt) fell because he passed out . now the ref wasen't in the best angle and probably didn't see it. but im' not sure, what do you guy's think? sorry i don't know all the moves , i'm just starting to watch ufc now

It's okay I knew what you were talking about You were referring to Carlos Newton. He had a deep triangle on Matt and Matt even admitted that he was going out when he dropped him. He was very quick to accept a rematch because that fight definitely was crazy. Some people say that Matt slammed him but the guy even admitted to being out and the look on his face after Carlos was out showed that he was definitely phased in a major way by the choke. Matt won the rematch in dominant fashion though so he redeemed any of the controversy that way.
