Penn vs Sanchez
I want Bj's first fight to be against The Mouth Sanchez! Lets see what Diego's got, hell everyone thinks he's the bomb this fight would prove it if he even hung 2 rounds with Bj or one round for that matter. Bj has vicous hands and sick subs. Quarry got thrown to the dogs why not Sanchez too?

I'd cheer for Diego, but he would get his ass kicked by Penn.

This would be the first fight I would root for Deigo. Don't think he would win, but I just don't care too much for BJ. Deigo could win with some GnP but he really needs to work on not punching the groun as much or he will break his hand.

Diego's greasy afro-sheen hairdo gives me the creeps. If I fought him I'd insist that they make him wash his hair. LOL
Penn by 2nd round sub.

Anyone remember a guy named Nick Diaz? You know, he was the #4 ranked WW in the world. Ring any bells? Well, let me remind you... he got BEAT by Sanchez earlier this month.
Funny how all the nay-sayers are coming back out of the wood work. When Sanchez beats Penn, you guys will say that Penn was a nobody and quickly forget about him the same way that you've done with Diaz.
It is hilarious...

Dude, I was like the only other person that said Diego would beat Diaz. I'm a big Diego hugger too. But, I can't see any possible way Diego can beat BJ. Plus, I don't like BJ. BJ is just too slick on the ground for Deigo.

thats hilarious. i gave Diego his props. he showed improvement over his last fight and he DID beat Nick. i dont care about some stupid ranking system. what good does it do? Besides on MMA weekly BJ is Ranked number 1. does this mean hes unbeatable?

I like Diego. I think Diaz is a punk. However, deep down inside, I doubted him against Diaz. Sanchez is undefeated, and that won't last long. But, I am of the opinion that he is getting better and better in each fight. He cannot get to the level of a champion without defeating people like Riggs, Penn, GSP, and Karo. Of those four, only Penn has a win over Hughes. A win over Penn would trump GSP and Karo instantly. Riggs already lost to Hughes.
My opinion is that Sanchez will be far more driven to beat Penn then he was to beat that idiot Diaz. It will certainly mean more... And, I think that Diego is among the best wrestlers and ground game players in the WW of the UFC. In my (insane) mind, I think that Diego may well be better than Hughes on the ground. It seems to me that GSP is the one fighter that would beat Diego in what would seem like easy pickings--GSP has a stand-up game. But, then again, so did Diaz...

Anyone remember how much better BJ Penn is on the ground than Diaz. It's not like Diego came even close to finishing Diaz off. And it was a bad match up for Diaz because he couldn't use his stand up skill at all. And as I have said before Diaz and Diego should have a rematch there is alot of bad blood there. If Diaz works on his wrestling and tries to have a stand up fight with Diego he would win a rematch.
As for Penn and Diaz. If BJ is in shape and ready for this fight he will win. Honestly the only way I see Diego winning is if Penn dosn't come ready to fight. No disrespect for Diego but Penn is in a whole other league.

First Riggs isn't really one of the top WW out there. He was more of a last minute replacement. I don't think that Diego would have much trouble with Riggs.
Second, GSP is number 1 contender right now. Diego would have to beat him to get a shot before him.
Third. Whhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaatttttttt? Diego better than Matt on the ground? Diego vs Huges would consist of Matt slamming Diego and pounding him out in the first. Diego wouldn't have a chance against Matt. Matt is the better wrestler and might even be better at BJJ these days.
Fourth, GSP also has the better ground game than Diego. Even if Diego could take him down I don't see him hanging with GSP on the ground. Look at what GSP has done to every other ranked contender he has faced.

I think that Sanchez would have to defeat Karo before getting a shot at GSP. However, Karo is out of the picture for at least six months. GSP is set for a title shot, so there is not likely GSP-Sanchez fight in the future. It is more likely that a Sanchez-Riggs fight will be set up before a Sanchez-Penn fight. If Sanchez beats Riggs, which I think is a given, then he will face Penn or a loser in the GSP-Hughes match.
The Sanchez-Hughes fight would have to be set in late next year. By then, I think we will be seeing a Diego Sanchez at a level that we have not yet seen. He is training to become more well rounded. Hughes' best weapon against Diego is that slam. In most other ways, Diego is easily as well skilled as Matt Hughes on the ground, but Hughes' has a vast wealth of experience over Sanchez. That would be an advantage.
Hughes has been shown that he can be out-wrestled. He is awesome, but there are some that are as good or better. Penn beat Hughes by RNC. GSP was doing very well against Hughes before that armbar. Even Twinkle Toes was doing a good job in Trigg-Hughes 1. Riggs just layed down and let Hughes win, IMO.

Riggs wasn't really good enought on the ground to give Matt much trouble and he was mentally exhausted from his weight issues. The best next opponent for Diego is either Sherk or Trigg (with any luck the UFC will resign him soon, MMAweekly raido has really helped his popularity). He still needs a good showing against another contender to get a shot a GSP, Hughes, Penn, or even Karo. A victory over Riggs wouln't really push him up in the rankings. Riggs is like 11th or 12th and not really a worthy opponent for Diego.

wth??? are you serious? Diaz is nowhere close to Penn. Im not coming out of the woodwork I have been a Penn fan for along time, way before UFC. Anyone who says Penn is a nobody and quickly forgets him knows nothing about the sport and I question you to even say such a stupid thing.
