Burkman did call Deigo out. I don't see Sanchez backing down from that.

Burkman said he wanted to fight Diego Sanchez. That was on Monday night. It is a bit too soon to get feedback from Sanchez...

Burkman has been wanting Sanches since tuf2. This is not a new finding, I train with mutual partners as Burkman and theyre telling me the fights going to happen. Sanchez will fight who ever Dana tells him to, he has no choice in the matter.

While Im not a big diego fan, I don't think Burkman is worrying him much. While I haven't warmed up to him, he has great confidance in his abilities. I don't think Burkman scares him. It should be a very good fight. I have Sanchez winning, GnP . style.... WarDawg

I'd like to see Burkman replace Goulet at UFC 58 after Goulet's showing at UFN. I know it goes against the whole "USA vs Canada" theme but hey, a good fight is to be had. Either way, I think either fight will be a step down for Diego after Diaz.

I would not mind seeing Burkman versus Diaz. That would be a good fight... Diaz would look bad, however, if he lost to Sanchez and then to Burkman.

Actually its more like Joe Silva says to Diego: "How bout you fight Burkman". And Diego will say yes or no. (probably yes unless he has someone else in mind) Fighters have alot of say in who they fight.

While I think this fight will happen it is far from official. If Diego says that he will fight him than that's all it would take. Remember talk of Diego and Nick happened months before it was actually official.
Goulet won't be fighting for a while. I haven't seen the suspensions but I'd say he gets at least six to eight week suspension. So there will have to be a replacement. I just don't know if this particular fight could be set up in time.
And Unknown is right Diego/Diego's agent, has a lot of say in who he fights. If someone doesn't want a fight and they aren't coming off a loss then there is no problem to turn it down.

From a personal level, you have to feel bad for Goulet. I do think he could lay down a good run in the UFC. From a fan standpoint, GOD I hope they replace him with Burkman if he does get medically suspended..

Where do you train, and can you get some pictures of you guys training? Not enough of that on this forum IMO.

I teach Krav-maga in oregon, train once or twice a year at quest, also train sometimes under grandmaster chen in Bjj. I also am a parttime wrestling coach at a local highschool. As far a pictures go I tend not to take pictures of myself while Im teaching or training. If you want to see pics of the gym I guess I could do that, although dont know what purpose they would serve.

Oh I definitely do feel for him. He'll make a comeback and be even better. He went on like a 9 or 10 fight win streak after his last loss, so I have high hopes. I was really looking forward to Goulet this year though. I think he would have demolished Jackson. Ludwig being the replacement was the spoiler.
I agree though. I would love to see Burkman and Diego go at it. Should be a good one and hope Silva puts this one together quick.
EDIT: Just noticed this on MMAweekly-
In other MMA news, MMAWeekly.com is reporting that John Alessio will be fighting Diego Sanchez at UFC 58's USA vs Canada show. Alessio will step in now that Jonathan Goulet lost to Duane "Bang" Ludwig from this past Monday's Ultimate Fight Night show.
I don't recall ever seeing Alessio. Anyone know if he is any good?

Alessio is a decent fighter. His hands are nice and his ground game is OK. He's not quite world class in the sense that he does well in the smaller shows like KOTC and such, but when he fights some of the tougher competition he comes out on the losing end. He's the kind of guy who can hold a title in KOTC. His biggest wins are against guys like Jhun and Brennan. Both good fighters, but neither at the top of the rankings. Funny thing is that Goulet beat John not too long ago. Sucks for Goulet the way things worked out. I don't really expect Alessio to beat Diego, but I'll certainly be rooting for him. I wish the UFC would give Diego a decent wrestler like Jason Black. He'd end the Diego hype rather quickly.

I never thought of Black when I considered opponents for Diego. He would be a good one.
