If Hendo doesn't rely on his KO power, and instead relies on his Greco-Roman abilities (which are really his bread and butter, no matter how many KOs are on his record), I think he'll be able to hold Silva against the fence and use dirty boxing, elbows, and leverage to wear Silva down until Hendo can mount him and GnP to the win.

As it's been said before, Silva has never looked hard to take down, and if Dan uses that to its full effect he won't just win a round, IMO.

    Brock/Dos Santos - Machida/Jones - Silva/Palhares - GSP - Florian/Sotiropoulos

Hendo's got a chance if he gets a re-match with Anderson, and that's if his game plan is to take the fight to the ground and clinch. That's where he can match Anderson and I imagine Hendo realises this. If he decides to stand he will get knocked out, he's got nothing for Anderson in the stand-up and not even a great chin will be able to save him.
This is pretty much what I have believed all along. Henderson did really good the first round, second round he got rocked and basically gave up. There was very little resistance to the RNC. I think the only chance is to do what you said take it to the ground and work the clinch. Dirty boxing Randy Couture style.

I can't see Hendo getting silva on the fence and keeping him there ,Silva is pretty good at understanding opponents strengths and he submitted Hendo in his strongest area ,the ground.
Hendo a very good fighter ,but he's got nothing for Silva.
people are ignoring Silva's movement in the ring changing angles and level whilst keeping his feet in the same position ,is quite unique in mma and he makes it work.
My point about Silva getting a break in level of comp ,is that if White gave him a soft touch once in a while it would offset the strategy he needs to adopt against the best of the division which is a more cautious approach usually. a softer opponent would rekindle the excitement with a devastating k.o. therefore keeping Silva's marketability from a selling stand point for the UFC.
But throwing him in with monsters fight after fight , i don't think that has ever been done at this rate in any combat sport.
Silva saying he wants big fights , i think meant he wants to get paid big ,which is not always going to be the case ,unless he makes himself a fighter that people want to see. I recognize how special he is and how no fighter will ever do what he is doing right now,but i been following the sport since '92 and the majority of the people who go to the events are casual fans in
    comparison.
