Default Tito says to bad Chuck retired

MMANEWS.COM | Tito Ortiz On Chuck Liddell: Too Bad He Reitred

Tito Ortiz talks to SportsRadioInterviews.com about his desire to take on Chuck Liddell again in a possible third match up:

I have no more pain, no more soreness, no more numbness going down my legs; I’m back in to fighting shape again. I just started working with Freddie Roach out of Los Angeles, the ‘Wild Card,’ and I’m excited. For once I’m gonna be 100 percent, and hopefully the fans get to the see the champion I was before, ’cause the last time I was 100 percent, when I was the world champion, and I defended my world title five consecutive times … I gotta give the respect to Chuck Liddell, he was a great champion. Too bad he retired, a rematch with him would be nice, and I think the fans would love to see that.”

If you don't remember, Liddell holds two wins over Ortiz in their previous two fights. Both ways came by way of TKO at UFC 47 and again at UFC 66.

Ortiz will likely return to action, in the UFC, this fall against Mark Coleman. He has been out of action since May of 2008. Ortiz vs. Liddell has been a big money maker for the UFC in the past and would likely be big in the future.

Ortiz is saying he is back to 100% and looking to make a title run against the man he last faced in the octagon, Lyoto Machida, whom he lost to via a unanimous decision and is now the top fighter in the 205lb division. If the former champ can pick up a win over Liddell on his path, it could help get "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" over that slippery path the "Iceman" has previously put in his way on the road to the championship.

God I hope there isnt a Chuck/Tito 3

Nothing more pointless than a 3rd fight where one guy has already won both the previous fights imo.

Look at Rampage/Wandy for example...Rampage just beat Wandy finally, but is still 1-2 against him!

I still don't think Tito could beat Chuck, even with the way Chuck has looked his last few fights.

Agreed. Chuck/Tito 3 would be just as pointless as a GSP/Penn 3.

Maybe Tito can fight Ken Shamrock (again) so that contract dispute doesn't linger.

And Wandy beat a guy who was basically homeless in Japan and not training very well. Everyone can have excuses, I was still excited for the fight, I mean all of those 3 fights are fun to watch right? Chuck v Tito on the otherhand wasn't (exept for maybe the split second when Tito got Chuck down). No need for a 3rd, not to mention 1 and 2 not being that memorable to begin with.

I am not saying it wasn't a good win but the point is how good does it look so many years later and while Wandy is on the down slide?
Kinda of like Tito & Chuck now, how good is the win for Tito if he wins now vs a down slide Chuck?

Btw, if page was homeless and not training and already had 23 fights when first met Wandy then he had piss poor management or he spent the money himself which would be his problem.

He was 19-3 and if he had not made any money by then, then he should have gotten out of the sport lol.

Are you saying a young fighter in a foreign country didn't spend his money well? NO! lol. Of course he didn't. **** he was getting ripped of by his management recently in the UFC, that is why he is at wolfslayer now. He might not still have been homeless at the time of the Wandy fights but I know he was for the Saku fight and some after, he did an interview a while back.

I would compare Chuck and Wandy at this point both headed down a bit, but I wouldn't say Tito and Page are nearly the same lvl at this point.

No need for Chuck v Tito again, even a win for Tito (which I still don't think he will) will do what? nothing.

Tito beating Chuck is all about pride, I reckon Tito is under the impression he will come back at "100%" and dominate, which personally I dont think is gonna happen.

If anything Machida is going to get a lot better and unless Tito beats Coleman convincingly then Tito will quickly become very irrelevant and will probably disappear again.

I think Tito will be back at 100%, problem is I don't think his 100% is good enough anymore.

Jacob Ortiz will IMO be a top contender again soon, he was close to beating Machida, and I think he may be able to pull out a decision against him if he had a better game plan.
I wouldnt mind seeing Jacob vs Griffin.

Come on man, close to beating Machida? he got a sub attempt in that no one in their right mind would have every thought of and even with a surprise sub attempt that was sunk in deep he still couldn't beat Machida.

Like Machida said, he won't fall for that again with anyone.

Other then that it was total domination over Tito.

Oh great, Tito is officially back. I give him 2 weeks before he starts ripping on Dana.

Is there anyone else who finds Tito's voice annoying?

Yeah, but Tito vs Liddell II holds the UFC all time PPV record of sales and legitimate gate live audience sales of all time in all of current MMA history.

And BTW, also Fight Forums "Most Users ever Online" (565) 12/26/06 I WAS THERE, or some ****, the same night that Tito fought Liddell the second time.

His name coupled with Liddells name is a draw.

Period!

Tito vs Liddell III would be another one people go WTF? But will not only sell out the arena but do outstanding PPV buys IMO

It's just something about the two.

Their fanbases are THAT strong

Can you imagine how humiliating it would be for Chuck to lose that fight? LOL... He would probably have a mental break down.

The way its been going for Chuck I think that if Tito fought him for a third time Tito might even knock him out. But I do think that Tito would probably lose for a third time and there are better fights for him to have. I think Chuck is finished though, Dana doesn't want him to fight anymore. I know Chuck still wants to fight but that fight with Rampage really took a toll on him. Tito can say that about Chuck because he knows that fight isn't going to happen. I'd watch it still though. Can you imagine if Tito won though, it would be a big confidence boost to his already inflated overconfidence. Still a Tito fan though and hope he comes back strong.
