Not actually racist, boys...
I knew others would take me for a racist after my statements, but I left out the fact that David Loiseau is one of my favorite fighters who I think has a great chance at taking the belt, Marvin Hagler is probably my favorite boxer of all time and there are numerous others of a different nationality or skin color than mine in MMA who I truly respect.
I didn't mean to suggest that Rashad had set-ups (works) during TUF2, but that after things seemed to fall into his lap, what appears will happen now is what I'm assuming will be hand-picked opponents to try and build him up.
I didn't make any false statements about Jorge Gurgel and Melvin Guillard getting shut-down either. My main beef is with big-mouth punks who like to run their mouths, WHITE or NOT! Many might be intimidated or believe their trash talk, but a fighter who's confident and sure of their abilities doesn't need to talk smack. Look at people like Fedor Emeliananko, Marco Ruas, Bas Rutten, etc... mature professionals!
I'm just saying I don't completely trust the UFC any more than I would Don King to match-make and give it to us straight. If you don't think there's any chance of the UFC trying to appeal to as large a fan base as possible, and will do anything within legal reason to get there, then you're ignorant.

How can you say Rashad had it handed to him? He fought more than anyone on the show. Maybe the competiiton wasn't all that great and maybe he left a dislike in your mouth with his first fight, but I totally think that Rashad deserved to be the TUF winner and deserves to get a chance to prove himself.
As for the UFC bookers following in the footsteps of Don King, thats kind of a stretch. The fact is, not matter how the UFC may book their fights, once those fighters get into the octagon, there is no setup or fakeness about it. The best fighter is going to win more than not. I think the UFC is right on the money with it's booking. The only problem I have is with the Gracie/Hughes fight because I think the winner of the BJ/GSP fight should get a shot at Matt before Royce does, even if it is non-title, but thats just me.

NTNS you comments are rather racist. You don't have to hate all blacks to be racist. Just the fact that you are trying to point out that you like a black fighter makes you a little racist.
I really don't think Rashad is a guy that dana would risk the violations nevada state athletic commision rules just to get him into the UFC. He isn't even very popular. No way were the fights on the show works.
And the every promotion on the planet tries to build up their top fighters. Dana will probably give rashad someone like bill mahood first off. And that is better then going the nate quarry way. But in all honesty Dana and Joe silva probably know that Rashad ain't that popular and will give him mid card fights untill he gets better.
And as for smack talk. There are as many fighters who talk and win as there are who talk crap and lose.
By the way Jonny is so angry because people keep asking why he is angry.

He beat heavier guys. He beat faster guys, and he beat stronger guys. He should have earned that much of peoples respect. Apparently some on here just read a book's first chapter and close the cover.
This 1st fight hating on him is BS. He screwed up, said as much, and apologized. Then he went out (with every single guy hating him that much more for what he did in fight 1) and beat people in the octagon which is where it counts.
Of course now that I've defended the guy he's going to go out there and lay an egg on my face, but frankly he's earned that right. He took on all comers and won, and won decisively in my opinion.
That's my 2cents

I did not like that 1st fight because of that wierd dancing around stuff that Rashad did in that match. Hughes said it best -- "It's showboating..." Rashad did not really apologize for what he did. In fact, I recall him saying "F--- Matt Hughes" or some such. He was direspectfull to MMA and to the individual fighter in the match, AND to MAtt Hughes. But, what Hughes said did sink in, and Rashad did much better in each successive match by not showboating. He took the event much more seriously... It was ironic justice that Hughes was in Rashad's corner for the final match on the show.

NTNS, I understand that you were both quoting someone else's statements about boxing, and trying to say that you think that the UFC has adopted a government style affirmative action. The way you stated it however obviously offended a couple of people. To those offended, please remember that it is very hard to convey tone on a message board. Before you slash someones throat, give them a chance to reword or explain thier intentions. Then if they show bad intentions, have fun with them for a few, then BAN em! I think this may have been a less than ideal way to express a personal view by one person, but by no means a race bashing.

Like I said in my first post NTNS. You "came across" as racist. lwbfl is right it's hard to convey tone and if that is what happened then no biggie. In the future I'll be careful with my "political corectness" so I don't offend anyone. Let's just say anything goes and see how fast the board turns to crap.

i really dont think any of that was "racist" at all.... a little over sensitive... anyways i think that rashad got an easy way through mostly cause he didnt have to fight seth (the best IMO) and got away with brad, a rookie to mma in the finals... plus the rest of the HWs were awful, so either way anyone would have gotten a pass

Right. So Rashad definitely got the easy way out since he didn't have to fight Seth who was dominated by Brad who is just a rookie. Hmm...that doesn't seem to make sense to me.

seth had an awful fight vs brad, but he was so undersized, he would have been much better at 205... vs rashad im pretty sure he would have won that... rashad did alot better job that one fight overcoming the size difference, but overall i just think seth was the best.... then again i think all of them were horrible haha
