This fight has the makings of fight of the year. They are both seriously skilled. I think they are still going to fight but the 12 events a year threw MMA weekly off and their fight isn't rumored for several months.

Salaverry was told by the UFC that he needs to go back to the smaller shows and "prove" himself. WTF? I think Silva made that decision, not sure about that part though. It royally sucks balls. This is what drives me crazy. Ivan is a very good matchup for Rich and if anyone has a chance to beat him it's Ivan. Hmm...I wonder if Nate Quarry will have to go back to the smaller shows since he got KTFO...oh wait.

Yeah, well sallaverry almost royally screwed Zuffa by not being agressive at all in that fight. For alot of people that was one of the first big main event they had seen and it was horrid. That could have destroyed the UFC chance of going mainstream.
Only reason that Dana didnt' 'bring the hammer down' on marquart is cause he was alread suspended for the roid issues.
I'm personally not a big fan of it but sallaverry and marquart should have know that in a fight like that it was more important for their carrear to be exciting then to win.

Well in fairness to the two of them, that fight was meant to end with the winner getting a title shot so they may have been overly cautious to ensure no stupid mistakes the other one could capitalize on. They are also more defensive fighters so that was just bad matchmaking. But yeah the fight was horrid and I don't blame Zuffa for telling Ivan to take a walk especially after all the build up they were doing for him before that fight.
