Monsoon and Vera

Both guys imnpressed me a lot. I've watched some of Monsoon in ADCC and in the lower leauge MMA. Although he's a contraversal true "anarchist", he's a damn good fighter and I think he's a sleeper within the heavyweight division and will do well.

Am I the only one who sees a ton of pontential in Vera? He's young and a little arogant, but he has some mad skills. That kick was beautiful! He's my choice as a future champion is a few years.

What do you guys think of them?

No way man. I've been talking about Vera since he knocked out Pega-Leve. I would like to take this time out to say I freaking told you so GSPalltheway! You can't give me anymore crap about picking Sherk to lose. At least he put up a better fight than Eilers did.

I don't know much about Monson but I know he is a badass grappler. He should do fine in the HW division. I figured Brandon would gas and get pounded out but Monson got some weird north/south kind of choke. I don't even know what to call that one, but it obviously worked since it choked him unconcious.

Monson got his rear handed to him by chuck some time ago. But on the ground he could be a threat. His fight was the best HW fight I have seen in months. No idea what that choke was. It looked effective as heck. Could make the north/south postion an actual desirable position since you can't knee to the head.

Now vera impressed me alot. He destroyed elilers. And I agree with jonny about him having some serious skills. But I just might still give you crap about picking sherk over GSP.

I know I've realized my sins and picking Sherk was a mistake. I do deserve criticism. It wasn't that I really doubted Georges though, I guess I just thought too highly of Sherk? I don't know.

I'm just glad that Vera put on an amazing display of skills to show that he is no joke. I doubted him against Scherner and he showed me then that he is a bad mofo. He can actually make the HW fights exciting again. Along with Monson. He did very well and they get much praise from me.

Vera was hot! I picked him and he came through. My friends and I had a point system to see who did the best and I came in second but Vera put me in 2nd place. Everyone had him losing.

I saw a guy get kicked almost identical to that in a karate tournament once...as what Vera did to Eilers...same gradual spin down and everything.

I'm with you Danny...I can see Vera knocking some heads off in HW division... even LHW ...We will see when he gets some tougher comp

ya, i think vera could make a huge dent in either the LHW or the HW devisions...this guy still has room to improve and grow but as he is now, hes still damned impressive...

It's ok angryjohnny, I picked Sherk over GSP as well....

Monson looked really good. I can't wait to see him fight again. Being that big but only 5'8'' the dude is a bulldozer.

I hated Vera because he's so cocky but I can't deny his skills anymore. Looking forward to seeing both these guys fight again soon.

sure i can!! i wanted vera to lose but he obviously has skill... i actually liked him alot more after that fight, funny guy with alot of talent...
the sherk pick made no sense thats all, i just never thought he had any chance at all, vera was a huge favorite

I believe you called him a "D grade" fighter. Sounds like you doubted him. Like I said it's not that I doubted Georges. Just thought that Sherk was going to show a lot more. Bought into the hype basically.

I didn't think that Vera would beat Eilers, I thought that he didn't have the expirience to beat Eilers. And the same here Vera has impressed me, but still he shouldn't be putting himself above Chuck, and since he's in in the HW division he should be keeping his eye on Arvloski since he's a HW. But we all know Arvloski would murder Vera, so would Chuck.

Well that is the thing that a lot of people are doing is taking Brandon's comments the wrong way. He said that his goal is to capture the titles in both divisions. He's not saying that he is better than the champs just that he is working to be the champ one day. He thanked his fans and hoped they would continue to support him while he works toward his goal. I don't think he is doing anything disrespectful. Vera is going to be a force. He's not the best ever right now but he is a badass right now and he will only get better.

i dunno, i dont generally drastically change, but i like watching vera.... i like his personality and i dont feel like saying he wants both titles is wrong.... he is doing great in the HW division but in the future could also easily drop down to 205, so why not go for it!

Vera was impressive two fights in a row now. Fluke ?? I don't think so. But him dropping to 205 and takeing the title isn't very far off. WarDawg
