Confirmation of Diaz Riggs hospital incident
I found this this morning:
Good fight. Riggs looks like he has improved alot. Must be the training he did with Rich Franklin. I wish Diaz would have finished him in the 1st round when he rocked him. Can anyone explain to me how that judge scored the 1st round to Riggs? When I heard the judge's tally I thought Diaz won because it was impossible to score the 1st for Riggs. As far as the hospital incident I will say that there is a spin to make Diaz look like he sucker punched Riggs in the hospital. Diaz doesn't operate like that. He talks trash and will fight you, win or lose, but it's to your face like a man. They squared off and Diaz dropped him. I wish it would have happened in the octagon and not in the hospital. Anyways both guys fought hard and that's the way it goes.

Didn't they say he threw a shoe at Riggs back stage ?
How Manly of him
As for Riggs winning it was probably the right call since he did more damage everyone knows cuts make a big impression on the judges............And even if you rock a guy it almost counts against you if you can't finish him and Diaz didn't finish him.
Whats more impressive ? A guy landing a hit and rocking the other, Or the rocked guy recovering and going all the way and still putting up a good fight ?

No there was no shoe incident. That was another made up story about Diaz at the Sanchez fight. People are always making up things about him every time he fights.
I wasn't surprised that Diaz and Riggs got into it again. Two guys like that together is always bad news. I figured the sucker punch story was BS though.
To your question everyone says well Nick didn't finish him after he rocked him, or he didn't finish him with the submissions. Well when did Joe ever even get close to finishing him. And defending submissions isn't as impressive as applying them and especially his transitions. But to me that is kind of like saying that a fighter should get points for getting punched and not getting ko'd.

I'm just sayng in the judges eyes seeing the Blood from cuts and seeing a guy get rocked and still put up a good fight is going to make more of a mark in their minds then just catching someone with a good punch and not finishing them..............My thinking is that if you don't finish the guy off it looks more like a lucky punch then you laying down the hammer and putting him out

There is no such thing as a lucky punch. And no such thing as knocking someone out by accident.
But the submission attempts don't count as much as the striking when the striking is 85% of the fight. If the fight had spend more time on the ground and all Riggs did was defend submissions then Diaz would have won. But the fight was more of a stand-up fight and riggs won the stand-up.

I thought Riggs beat Diaz 2-1. I think Diaz won the 1st but the 2nd and 3rd went to Riggs.

Diaz was probably upset about losing 2 straight fights by decision, but hey that's what happens when a fight goes to the score cards. You never know what the judges look at for a decise win. Let's face it he's not facing Robbie Lawler everytime he fights.

I also gave the fight to Diaz, but I can see why Riggs won the fight. I mean it was a very close fight but I think Diaz done enough to win but Riggs did open a few cuts which always gives you the advantage and imo could be the 2nd best thing over knockout.

Diaz rocked Riggs twice in the first and one of the idiot judges gave that round to Riggs, how do you explain that? I don't think the fact that Riggs finished the fight after being rocked swayed the judges, but Diaz being cut is a lasting impression. Also, to me Diaz won the 1st and 2nd rounds. The 1st was clearly his, the second, he may have been on the bottom, but Riggs was having to do more defending than damage. Diaz had Riggs in a submission but time ran out! The problem is the the judges don't give points for going for submissions or if you have him and time runs out! They are scoring like boxing, and the last time I checked the UFC isn't boxing! Isn't the fight scored based on octagon control, aggressiveness, damage? the first two are Diaz's, if you want to say that cut was more damge than anything Diaz did I guess you could argue, but Riggs was rocked twice the 1st rd, and caught in a submission the 2nd. Damage is just cuts!

I agree jj. The only damage Joe did was the small cut. Other than that Nick was way more agressive, and had better octagon control. I guess backpedaling and throwing combos looks very impressive to the judges and is aggressive and controlling. So very lame...

Riggs won striking and agression in the second and third round. Control went to Diaz so did grapling, but very little of the fight took place on the ground so it didn't count as much as the striking portion of the fight.
Striking, grapling, agression, and control are what the fight is scored on. And based on that Riggs won.

He actually didn't get arrested. They basically said "don't do that anymore" One of the officers actually asked for a picture and an autograph.
