Jerome LeBanner challenges Sylvia
Jerome has challenged Tim Sylvia to one fight in Japan and one fight in the Octagon. This would be awesome and Jerome will completely destroy Tim standing. Jerome's weakness is the ground game which he wouldn't have to worry about with Tim.
This would be an awesome fight. Hopefully Tim accepts it. Jerome says he wants those ridiculous looking sunglasses if he wins.

Also I just found some info that Tim was on MMAweekly radio today and it sounds like he is already trying to back out of this fight. Saying that Jerome calling him out is "disrespectful" because he didn't challenge Andrei. WTF? This is coming from a guy who is always saying "I'll fight anyone" and "I can take Pride's best" and whatnot.

LeBanner is a bad match up for Tim. And he has a title shot comming up. If I were him I would worry about that first.

Well after the beating that AA will administer to Silvia in the near future, big Team will be needing an opponent to begin his climb from the bottom of the hill.

LeBanner is not that opponent he should seek. Jerome would knock Tim out. He would get a worse beating that Andrei could put on him standing.

No way Sylvia should take that fight now. It's a lose/lose situation.

Who is this Jerome guy? Since I'm relatively new to the whole MMA thing, I've never heard of him before.

I think Sylvia could do better than you think. He does train with argueablly the best team in MMA. He is 6'7'' and has a good right hand. In the last fight he didn't let his hands go because he was afraid of the takedown. In a standup war he is pretty strong. Who is to say he doesn't grab a leg and take LeBanner down like he did to Mir. That is a big guy to be on you, he probally naturally is 300 lbs. At fight time he is probally 285ish.

He's a good stand up fighter, not too much ring experience though. It would be a great fight for him, he knows he has a real good chance at beating someone with a big name, it'd make a name for himself.

if hte fight went to the ground, (like mir) it would be over, end of story... i have a hard time just betting on ONLY strikers in MMA........ and tim isnt such a bad striker himself... although no point to take this fight at all... if he wants to fight tim so bad he can sign a UFC contract, and start with another fight like pe de pano (which i also think he would lose) all this is MMA of course, k1 or something would be far different

Here is some of Jerome's K1 goodness.
Some of you guys have to be kidding. Tim is a good striker but he has nowhere near the ability that Jerome has. Tim would get knocked out if he fights him, Jerome has knocked out serveral WGP champs. Doesn't matter if it's in a ring or in a cage. Neither of these guys will want to go to the ground so it would be a standup only for sure.

LeBanner looks like a beast in that video...
i agree, this would probably end up a pretty humiliating defeat for ole tim on this one. he should just say hes concentrating on his upcoming title shot and hope that everyone forgets that lebanner called him out....

in an MMA match id really bet anything on tim... he would charge jerome, take him down, and the fight would be over after 280lbs are laying on top of him... jerome doesnt have any skill on the ground what so ever... tim has gone to the ground before and would be fine with laying on top and pounding jerome who is so much smaller with ease... i would even guess that betting lines would have tim heavily favored... jeromesonly chance would be to have tim have too much pride to try and stand with him

LeBanner is my favorite hw/super hw kickboxer. His mma experiance isnt too much right now, he did beat Yoshihiro Akiyama, but the huge difference in size had alot to do with that one. You should have seen how quick he rocked Gary Goodridge at the Japan final elimination round in late 2005! He has been working on his ground game with Abu Dhabi champion Dean Lister.. so its not like he hasent been rapidly learning from one of the best.

Tim isn't good enought on the ground to do anything to Jerome but Lay n Pray. And standing Tim just dosn't have what it takes to beat Lebanner.

No Tim would do anything besides go to the ground. Like Unknown said he doesn't have the skills to lay and pray. You have to at least be a good wrestler. In Jerome's last fight that's what the guy tried to do. He would get him down and just try and hold him there. Tim wouldn't be able to do that.
Also I'm not sure what you are talking about with McGee. That fight was like 2 minutes of Tim beating him up. There was no ground work there.
Also this is the kind of fight I would actually place a real bet on. Jerome would most likely be the underdog by a large amount but the odds of Tim winning would be so slim meaning an easy jackpot.
