What happened to Robbie Lawler?
What happened to Robbie Lawler? Last time I saw him, he was on the wrong end of a triangle choke w/ Evan Tanner. Lawler is an exciting fighter. Where is he?

He went to fight in ICON, formerly Superbrwal, and won the title from Falaniko Vitale....he was supposed to have a title fight coming up against Mayhem Miller but Miller had some legal issues and now Lawler is having a non-title fight rematch with Vitale.

I'd like to see Lawler take on some of the TUF guys. I think he'd match up well with some of them.

I'd like to see him whip Diaz's @$$, lol. Seriously a rematch winner stays in the UFC. Most probally disagree with me but I think Lawler would beat him. I think Lawler took Diaz lightly but I think he would be focused and beat him. He trains with one of the best teams in the world. Since him leaving the UFC he's 2-0 he'd be 3-0 but Miller has to decide to be a "criminal" but after his next fight with Vitale I'd give him another shot against Diaz.

A Diaz-Lawler 2 match would be cool. Now that Diaz has lost to Sanchez and Riggs, he is in deep water with the UFC. The fight at the hospital was not a smart move either. A "loser leave town" match would serve Diaz right, and it would be sweet justice for Lawler to be the one to send Diaz "packing."

The only thing that Robbie has on Diaz is power, and Diaz showed in the Riggs fight that his chin is solid. I would expect a rematch to go much like the first.

Lawler is one of my top guys I like to watch. Diaz is on that list too (he still got screwed in the Riggs fight) A rematch would be great and fun for everyone to watch but like previously mentioned Diaz has a very strong chin and is slick on the ground. He's still developing and once he gets some takedown defense he will be a force. If he moves to 155 he could be champ sooner than later. But I also don't see a rematch with Lawler going any differently. If he can't knock Diaz out then he will go out. If Nick chooses he could take him down and submit him as well.
Also I forgot to add that Robbie wants to play in the NFL eventually. I don't know how serious about that he is but it is a dream of his. Don't know if he will persue that or take fighting more seriously.

Ooo, hadn't thought of that until you said it. That'd be great. How bout Lawler vs Pulver?
Have I mentioned I'm so happy that the LW's are back?

Robbie Lawler is another one of those fighters with great potential and no brain. he goes in the ring and just throws leather. he has no game plan and does'nt even do a prefight warm-up. yes, he goes into the ring cold. while in the UFC he could'nt make it at 170, so he moved up to 185 and was beat there as well. Lawler is too big to cut weight to 170 without problems, which is why he made the move to 185. i can't see him ever making 155, he'd probably die. for a guy who trains at Militech its surprising he is'nt more successful.

Sorry I was actually talking about Diaz cutting to 155. My bad, I wasn't very clear on that.

well, just the same, Diaz is about 6 feet tall. he'd look like a skeleton at 155. i think that would be rather unhealthy for anyone, especially a fighter.

He's talked about it before. He says he doesn't have to cut hardly anything and pretty much weighs about 170 come fight time. I think he could pull it off. He could be like Riggs losing 30+ pounds then gaining it all back the next day. Okay maybe not that much but 15 pounds isn't too bad. Most fighters can pull that off pretty easily.

I personally, am not such a fan of Lawler. Granted, he is exciting... he has the knock out or get knocked out mentality. That being said, he doesn't have what it takes to be top tier competition.

I guess it is how you define successful, IMO he is still young and has time to develop I think he has a big advantage over Diaz in the fact that he trains with the Miletich camp.

Lots of guys train MFS and don't amount to all that much though. With the exception of Hughes, no one has showed any staying power at the top. Horn is good, Sylvia is good, Lawler is OK, Hughes is great.
Franklin doesn't consider himself part of MFS so he doesn't count. Who else is so good at MFS? Whitehead? Sausage Tits? Big Brad?

I agree. Jens Pulver has a lot of great wins over some big names like BJ Penn, Joe Stevenson, Dennis Hallman, and Caol Uno. He lost in a good match against Gomi (but Gomi is Gomi after all). It would be great to have Pulver in the new LW division. That division is starting to look stacked already...
