Good PRIDE events to check out....
I know I should have posted it in the PRIDE section of the forum but I wanted to ask the UFCs fans too. I was wondering what are some good PRIDE events to check out? I'm mostly a UFC fan, I do watch some pride fights but not enough to get the PPVs as of yet.
I must admit I'm not a big fan of the ring apposed to the cage but I still enjoy watching the fighters. If someone could mention a few (recent preferably) Pride events to check out that would be great.
Thanks Gang,
FF

Total Elimination 04 is classic. High Octane has the classic Wandy/Rampage 2 fight.

Well I thought and I'm starting from the earlier and watching them from there.. earliest at my vid store was PRIDE 6-11 just finished 6 and going to watch 7... This way I can watch alot of the fights develop from the early shows.

You should try to watch Pride 3. It's my favorite of the early ones. The Sak/Newton fight is a grappling clinic. Anyone who thinks ground fighting is boring should watch that fight. Also 3 has the very hilarious thanks to Quandros' commentary, David and Goliath fight between Yarborough and Takase. Not a very serious match-up but entertaining once the 2nd round starts.

The only places to rent around here are Blockbuster and Hollywood video. They have UFC Hits Vol 1 & 2 and that it.
I see you are from the Great White North, but what is the name of the place that has the early Prides?

Yeah I'm from Canada.. Hoping the Canadian boys do good tomorrow night. I rented pride 6-11 at Jumbo Video. Its a fairly big chain where I live. They also have about 10 of the past UFcs as well and some up to date pride stuff too.
I'm From PEI, grew up in New Brunswick (just east of Maine). I moved here 5 years ago and love it, just a small island but it not to bad.

Well being a Sens fan myself I can say I have no love for the Leafs thats forsure... Great rivalry.
I must say I enjoy watching the fighters from the PRIDE events I have watched but I'm still hung up on the Ring. I am a HUGE fan of locking the cage door and getting to business. Maybe i will get over it the more events I watch.

ya, im not too keen on the ring either. when they get into the ropes, they have to move and restart in the middle at the same position, just slows stuff down. give them some chainlink fencing and some padded posts and go at it

The fans in Japan like the ring better, and PRIDE FC is all about the Japanese fans.

I perfure the ring. The cage tends to favor the wrestlers where the ring doesn't favor anybody.

The best Pride stuff I've seen has been the last couple of Bushido events.
BTW, are you familiar with this site? http://www.mmareview.com/index.htm
You can look up any big MMA event to see who took part, with individual ratings for each fight, and no spoilers for the outcomes. Look for any Pride card that has a lot of 8s and 9s in the match ratings, and you know you've got a good one.

Bushido 7 and Bushido 9 have been the best so far in my opinion. Out of straight Pride pay per views though, I would have to say Pride 25.
