fixed fight at 58
When i was watching 58 at the manadaly Bay, i thought Yves looked really slow, and he looked like he has never seen a triangle, also two hours before the fight someone placed a 35000 dollar bet on Hominick, I honestly think this fight was fixed

thats a real lame thread man...
35,000 is nothing to alot of people, and to fix a PPV event based on a 35,000 bet would not happen... just because someone is a favorite doesnt mean they win every fight

It was a huge shocker that Yves lost to some but not really that much. The only odds against him were him being lighter and moving up in weight class. I don't think Yves would throw a fight for that little. I mean he did act like he had never seen a triangle choke before but I just don't think he was all there, or Hominick is really that good and just shut him down.

Yves is a world-class fighter who underestimated Hominick and got caught. I do not believe for a single second that Yves would throw a fight for any amount of money. He's a samurai, man -- no way would he take a dive. In a perfect world, you could accuse him of this face to face.
BTW -- that 35,000 bet thing could be a stupid internet rumour based on nothing, and how would you know? Some guy told you? On some website? Please.

All right, fair enough. Odessa said someone placed 35k on Hominick at the last minute, or he said he also believes that Yves was in on that money and took a dive? And did they place that bet WITH Odessa? Cause if they did, he's probably just bitter.

The bet was 35K, the odds were 6:1 or something, which is over 200K of payback...

That's what I'm thinking. I wouldn't go as far to say "so and so would never throw a fight" Wave enough money in front of someone and they probably would do it. 200k? Not a chance. I think Hominick is just a lot better than people give him credit for.

I am all for freedom of speech, but try to keep this as unbiased as possible everyone, we dont want to diminish the reputations of two world class fighters over pure speculation at this point.

i cant even use the word speculation... its like saying randy threw the fight vs chuck... just people saying stuff that makes no sense.. hominick hits HARD #1, #2 just because your an underdog and not well known doesnt mean you cant win a fight, and #3, better be at least 2 mil to throw a fight and risk your career and rep... this is based on nothing, and the UFC is so big now that to throw a fight is close to throwing a football game... cant compare it to boxing even because of how big it is being on live cable TV ect..

Reasoning based on inconclusive evidence; conjecture or supposition... so I do see your point man, and i agree with you, especially when you consider the two guys who were fighting.

Just so we're clear here. I wasn't saying that I believe any of this. I know how badass Hominick is and he beat Yves fair and square.
My point was that eventually it's possible that there are going to be some corrupt scumbags who start getting involved and trying to fix fights. It's not there by any means and I hope it doesn't but it's very possible. Just another part of trying to get mainstream. Gotta try and avoid the scumbags and hope the men in charge or any of the fighters don't get persuaded to do something so stupid.

i really dont think so.... theres just not that much better on the UFC, and its capped off at certain levels, meaning theres only so much you can bet on a fight depending where you are... with the UFC getting so popular, and endorsements happening, theres no way anyone would risk that...

It wouldn't surprise me if it came out later that Yves was sick, He wasn't himself, anyone that has seen his fights knows that, but I wouldn't say there was any funny business going on. I really believe it's as simple as that. Yves didn't have all his senses about him.

Yves isn't really like unbeatable. I keep thinking of his match with Sato, who is another top 145 like Hominick, choked out Yves in 18 seconds. But, Yves isn't unbeatable by any means. Hominick is a very talented fighter who isn't a *****. Just because he hasn't fought in the UFC doesn't mean he couldn't finish a UFC veteran. Hominick is top ten at 145 pounds.

Yves didn't look himself because he was under the control of Hominick. Hominick schooled the vet. Thats all there is to that.........
