I want Matt Hughes to win, but I have this sinking feeling Gracie is going to make him tap.

i have a feeling matt may get a little over aggressive wanting to show that he can completely dominate a legend of the sport, and thus cementing his name in the ufc history books. if he does that, then he will most likely make a mistake and be submitted.

I think Matt will win, most likely GNP. As for cementing his name in the UFC books, I suspect thats already a done deal. At least it had best be because GSP is gonna take his belt.

well, yes, to a point it is. but its not up there with like rich, who has already fought and beaten a legend of the sport. if matt hughes beats royce gracie, then his fame in not only the ufc but mma in general goes way up.

Royce has not been GNP'ed by anyone else...I doubt Matt will either. IMHO...Matt should keep this one standing...Gracie's too good on the ground.

good point. gracie fought akebono (spelling), the sumo wrestler and he couldnt gnp him. hes fought a lot of other people with even better skills and they couldnt gnp him. the only person that came really close to gnp'ing royce into submission was ken shamrock in their second fight. it went to the time limit and royce looked like crap afterwards, but he still did not sub'ed or ko'd, and ken shamrock at that time was a hell of a lot bigger than than matt hughes is now.
i just dont see hughes being able to gnp him like he would have to do inorder to get the win. i have a feeling its gonna be a triangle / choke of some kind or an armbar that ends it....and it wont be with matts hand raised im afraid.

Shamrock landed one good punch in the fight, then was taken down.

Does it matter? There is no way in hell he could beat Matt. Just like in the joe riggs match where it was not for the title because he did not make weight.

he landed a few punches, along with some headbutts. the point i was making is that was the closest anyone got to gnp'ing royce and it be effective in any way. royce looked like crap after that fight.

No way he can beat Matt? I'm not saying he will, but saying there is no way is pretty out there.

Matt has trained with alot of great grapplers. His submission defense is great plus he is alot more powerful than Royce. I think Royce is in for a tough night.

Oh yes, I agree, but I can't believe anyone would say that Royce has no chance at all.

Royce does have a chance because he's been doing this for years, everybody has a small chance in a fight. I do however thing Matt is too strong and skilled in standup for him.
