Keith Jardine is now one of my favorite fighters
I watched on Thursday night and I was pretty impressed with how Jardine performed, but I caught the reply last night, way late at night, and I got to say that he showed me alot in that octagon. His leg kicks were brutal and the idea of using the leg kick as offense now a days seems to have lost some steam since the days of Pete Williams and Pedro. Also, if you look at the way he closed rounds by just pushing the pace, he closed the 1st and 3rd rounds with some good offense and definitely was the agressor. This thread isn't about how he got robbed, we have one for that, but I gained alot of respect for Jardine and I'm looking forward to seeing him in the octagon soon.

I think he should have won that season. I know he lost to Rashad, but if you compare their preformances on Thursday, you can see who the better fighter is. Rashad can bob and weave all he wants, but if he doesn't follow it up whats the point

The Dean of Mean is Mean for sure. I was really impressed with him the other night. He won that fight. He knows it, we know it, Bonnar knows it, and the rest of the World knows it; all except for those three poor judges.

As I said in the other thread, I definitely think that he will be more recognized as a good fighter after that fight. He showed a lot of people that he's no joke. As far as Rashad beating him during last season, Keith seems to be a fighter that will continue to get much better over time, I don't know if Rashad will. Keith is definitely someone to keep an eye on.

Agreed, i loved those leg kicks. Bonnar was like a bloody steak floating in the ocean. He's not one of my favs but I was impressed.

I think that leg kicks to the thigh are excellent in MMA. Why fewer fighters are using it is strange. When the thigh takes a lot of hard kicks, charlie-horses and welts form. If you have never had your thigh kicked hard just once or twice, then you may not see what it can do.
Most fighters wear longer short pants to hide the upper thigh so that it is hard to see the welting. But, when a fighter's front-forward footing is weakened, then all of that fighter's strikes will be affected. It is hard to get the right kinetic connection when you plant your foot after that leg has been kicked many times very hard.

Are heel kicks leagel in the UFC? A heel kick to the thigh would REALLY hurt bad, much more then with foot or shin.

As far as I know, as long as they are standing, it's legit. Problem is, I think it's a lot harder to land a heel kick than the top of the foot or shin.

Yep. Anything standing goes. As long as you don't go "Gracie-style" you'll be alright.
As for the topic. I feel bad for Keith, man. What a tough thing to deal with knowing that you should have won. I was definitely impressed. He'll be back though for sure. Like I said in the other thread I think even the UFC realized he got shafted by posting that poll on their website. Hopefully there is something they can do about the judges.
I'm also thinking that he isn't one of my favorites but I was sure as hell impressed, as well as disappointed by Bonnar. Though it's not the first time with him.

Yeah I always though leg kicks were brutal as well after watching Mark Coleman and Tank Abbot get chopped down by them. It definitely affects thier wqhole game and takes a little away at everything they try and do. Jardine will definitely be back and I'm looking forward to seeing him again.
