Jackson could be the Mohammad Ali of MMA here in the states. Not dominance but attitude wise.

Yup. That's why it's confusing that Dana made no attempt to contact him when he became a free agent. He can make money in Japan though too. He doesn't need UFC, they need him because like you said he could bring a lot of fans in just by his personality alone.

This is purely speculation but I think the UFC may have already signed Rampage. I just have a gut feeling on this. (There could be a non-disclosure agreement in effect until it's officially announced.) I wouldn't be totally shocked if Dana is standing in the ring with Chuck and Rampage at UFC 60. Man, I hope I'm right on this.

I hope you are right too. But with Jackson's comments about Dana and the UFC he makes on his forum, I personally would be completely shocked. I don't know about a non-disclosure agreement that would allow him to say that he wasn't going there but wouldn't allow him to say he was going there. That comment may not make sense but it's in reference to Jackson saying "I told you all I wasn't going to U-Fight-Cheap!"

I just met one of my top 2 favorate fighters of all time!
Quinton Rampage Jackson...
He was filming promo footage for the WFA...
I asked him when his first fight was, and he said it's in the UFC against Chuck @ UFC 61!!!
I told him I saw all over the internet that he signed with WFA... he said that the plan was to do a 1 fight deal with the UFC to beat Chuck, and then move over to the WFA.
He said he needs to be the Champion when he goes to the WFA...not a Chumpion.
I didn't beleive him at first but he was serious about it.
Is this old news?
If you can imagine, I was rather excited to meet him...
I got a picture with my PDA...
this literally was 10 minutes ago

I found this post over at the underground. This is still rumor at this point, but it seems to confirm my suspicions.

Yes, Rampage does like to mess with people. He'll say anything to generate interest in himself. We'll have to wait and see.

Isn't UFC 61 Tito vs Ken? Also I thought Chuck wasn't cleared for fighting until August?

Jackson won't say a thing about his current situation. I've emailed him with a very vague "wait and see" type of response and he is also real vague with his replies on his forum as well. People have been talking alot saying they know the situation. I'm not believing anything except what I see. And any indications that Jackson have made have all been saying he signed a big deal but not with UFC, just won't say where.

Bennett said today on the radio that Jackson is officially with WFA.

That goes to show how good my hunches are. "Sampsonite...I was way off!" I hope they have plenty of cheddah over in the WFA, cause Rampage is a big rat, and he'll eat it all.
All I got to say is: Have fun in the minor leagues bro...

I know what you mean. But who should we be upset with? Can you really get mad at Jackson for UFC not offering him a contract? Or that the "minor leagues" offered him more money? It's one of those two scenario's and Jackson has been pretty vocal that Dana never even gave a single call.
And that would only make me think that Dana is afraid to have him rematch Chuck. But I would have to wonder why. First Chuck doesn't need to be protected and even if he loses, Jackson would be ten times the star Chuck is.

it could be that if rampage came to ufc and beat chuck than pride came up with some mega bucks to get rampage back he would go because like u say rampage loves the chedder and that would make a laughing stock of the ufc just like when bj penn left as champ, when bustimante left as champ they dont want it happening again do they

Don't forget that Jens and Couture vacated their titles because of money as well. It's all about the benjamins. Dana can get away with paying peanuts to the guys who are desperate to fight on the big show but he's got to realize that not everyone is dumb enough for that. Rampage is smart. He and WFA are both going to benefit from him, and Dana made a big mistake by letting him pass by without an offer.

surely now thou dana has got to see if he wants to take ufc to the next level he has to start paying for the big guns to fight for him rather than trying to bring the next generation throu who in all honesty will probably leave the ufc when they can attract better money somewhere else like the others we mentioned!!!

dana's been talking to rampage
On Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, who was at UFC 62: I'd love to have him. We're talking to him. We always want to make the best fights happen with the best fighters. It's gonna happen, it's just a matter of time. http://msn.foxsports.com/boxing/story/5917002
(i know its fox, but whattaya gonna do???)
i am not sure if this thread has been done (i searched and didnt see one), or if it will be successful, or if it;; be tossed, but either way...
given the sorry state of the HW and LHW divisions, it is imperative to get some fresh, profitable and formidable talent in the ufc, specifically these divisions.
i googles and found that dana spoke of rampage, and that he claims he wants him.
any thoughts...
