Jim rome
Who listens to this show? I wish he talked about mma on his show. UFC is sweeping this nation and thanks to spike for airing so many free shows it would be so cool to hear his takes on fights. . It would be cool to hear some of his interviews with fighters or dana white and hear their stories. He is a boxing fan so I can't see why he wouldn't be interested in ufc.

Jim Rome is very tied in to boxing. And no matter how they try to deny it, boxing is fighting for it's life when it comes to MMA.
If Jimmy still wants Lamply to sit in for him, if Jimmy still wants all the big fighters and trainers to do his show....he simply cannot acknowledge MMA.
Boxing is still the bigger draw/ratings grabber for the talk show audience for right now. But if MMA continues to grow while boxing shrinks...then you may bet that GSP interview you have been waiting on.

I've listened to Rome a few times. Not enough to say I'm a fan but I like his show enough to listen to it again. It would all depend on his stance on the subject. Just because he is a boxing fan doesn't mean he'll appreciate MMA. If he has the views of some of the other people who are in the mainstream sports that could be why he doesn't talk about MMA. Hopefully people will start appreciating it but I think that is a ways off before it happens. There are too many ignorant people who aren't willing to learn about it and will try to shut it down before they give it a chance.

Whether he is a fan or not is irrelevant. Business is Business. Jim's switch on NASCAR can tell you that.

Well like I said I don't know that much about him. I didn't know he had such close ties with boxing. You are right even if someone was a fan if they are tied into boxing you'd never know it.

Jim Rome is interesting, but lately CSN (Comcast Sports Network, sometimes affiliated with FSN) has been showing some odd stuff related to MMA. For example, many here may not want to miss The Best Damn Sports Show Period. The Tuesday 12:00 AM (Midnight Monday) episode for that show is titled "Best of PRIDE." It repeats on 12:00 AM Wednesday (Midnight Tuesday). Check your own local listings, or look for it on FSN to see if they also show the BDSSP.
There was also another show that did a countdown of the fifty best sports fighting matches. That show had boxing, MMA (PRIDE FC and the UFC), and other types of fighting. They had a lot of stuff mixed up in that show. It was not in any way demeaning to any one sport, nor overly favorable. I am having trouble with the title, but I thought that it was The Sports List. It was on like about a week or so ago...

rome is a piece of ****e, plain and simple.
"in 1997, he challenged 69-year-old ex-hockey star Gordie Howe's plans to play a shift with the IHL's Detroit Vipers, which would have given "Mr. Hockey" the claim of having played professional hockey in six decades. Rome offered a bounty of $3,000 to any player on the team playing against the Vipers to take Howe out of the game permanently. Howe and his wife threatened Rome with a lawsuit, and the bounty went away."

Yeah, that's the truth. A lot of boxing fans don't like MMA @ all.

Sorry, it was not Sports list, it was: Best Damn Sports Show Period counts down the Top 50 Beatdowns in sports! THAT was the show that listed the 50 fights that included MMA and other stuff along with boxing.
Here is the link to that show: BDSSP Top 50 Beatdowns.

Jim Rome is gay.
Let me fight him in the octagon.
After I win I'll make him worship me, lick my toes and then i'll buy his kid's a DVD of it. I'll kiss his wife too, might as well.

Yeah, I think it shows that some sports news programs are starting to take notice. A lot of those are PRIDE FC, which makes sense because PRIDE FC is on FSN/CSN. Watch this weeks Best Damn Sports Show Period for their "Best of PRIDE" episode. I hope it's good.
