Default Tito vs Matt and Rich Vs Chuck

Weight classes asside, I think Hughes vs Ortiz and Liddell vs Franklin would be very good fights. I have bought the last two pride ppv and I like the Idea of Total Elimination. It would be quite a spectacle if UFC Mustars up enough balls to try it at least once. I also would like to see a Liddell vs Vera fight.

For all the talk of Franklin and Liddell, this is the first time I've considered Hughes and Ortiz, and you're right -- I think they're matched well. I think my points would go to Hughes still, but it would probably be a good fight.

I'll take Rich over Liddell...by decision
Tito over Hughes... not sure how
and then Vera over Liddell... by flying knee.

my nominee is PENN vs sylvia. heh heh.

Liddell KO Richy
Huges would ground and pound Tito (Tito would not take the fight)
Liddell Would have a hard time with Vera but would still win.

What about Frank Shamrock V Ken Shamrock

I would say Frank would submit Ken

People are so quick to say that Liddell would KO Franklin. I'm not so sure. Rich has taken a lot of big shots right on the button, but he's only ever been knocked out once. He's also got faster hands than Chuck, really polished defensive skills, and I believe that he's generally more well-rounded than Chuck. Better cardio, too.

I'm not saying Franklin wins 3 out of 3 against Liddell or anything, but don't write him off so easily either.

I think its true Rich is the true example of a well rounded fighter the modern day warrior. Though I do not think Rich could beat Chuck. If Chuck form is still as good as it was in his last fights then I believe Chuck would knock him out.

Chucks striking and defense ability is amazing!

Yes, my favorite fighter is Franklin but that's because he's such an awesome fighter... Franklin defeats Liddell and Tito over Hughes.

Do you live on fantasy island bud? Tito would destory Matt. Why would Tito not take the fight? Only way he doesn't take the fight is if he had to drop to 170lbs.

Matt's natural weight is about 190lbs and I'm guessing Tito is about 220 lbs before he cuts weight. So that's a significant weight advantage for Tito. Chuck is probably about 10 lbs heavier than Rich at their natural weights since Rich cuts a lot of weight to make 185lbs. Sound about right?

I'd bet big for Matt over Tito, and I'd place a small bet on Chuck over RIch.

Hmmm, if I was paranoid I'd think you were stalking me.

Your message isn't terribly clear, but I'm assuming you mean between Tito and Matt. The weight difference would be much less, since Matt would not be cutting. I say Matt over Tito because of better technique, more speed and comparable strength. That's my opinion. Is that OK with you?

I think that the UFC could do this. They could do an open weight tourneyment over several events, like three or maybe four, depending on the number of participants. The winner could be the Open Weight Champion and the individual weight classes would still retain their respective champs, regardless of how they do in the tourneyment. If the UFC were to ever do this, I think that they would probably break all their PPV records due to the fact they could have some of the most exciting matchups the UFC has ever produced. Like the first post says, could you imagine Hughes vs Tito or Vera vs Anderson Silva or....and I could go on. This would be an amazing thing should the UFC ever figure out the best way to do it.

Wait a minute, so will that mean some Lightweights could face some Heavyweights? That could turn ugly. That said, I think it is an exciting idea.

Yea, a fighter like Florian might dominate in the Lightweights but up against Liddell or Arlovski and the "no serious injury or death" might come to an end. However, I'd still love the possible matchups of the heavier weights.

Nope i disagree Matt would overcome Tito. Tito likes to mainly pick his fights especially when he was the face of UFC. Matt would pummel Tito in my view he is far more focused and a better fighter.

UFC could do a champions super fight with the winner picking up the Super Fight Belt. Although im sure Arlovski would dominate just about anyone.

Your all talking about a set up like the early days of the UFC. UFC 8 was like that had 180's vs. 250+. Of course your talking about two way diffrent ways of fighting compared to then and now. I don't see weight being a problem today with current MMA. I do think there are fighters in lower Classes that some in higher would not want to fight. You have people that way 50 ibs less but hit as hard as the "bigger" fighters... >_>

I dunno about Matt vs Tito. They are very evenly matched in all aspects. I think one thing about Matt is he tends to not be able to control simply going into "wrestler mode". He gave up what he himself said and what others said to try and keep it standing with Royce and went for the takedown very quickly before even feeling it out on the feet. Not that it's a bad thing, I think that that mentallity can limit a fighter and not take advantage of all they tools they posses which is extrememly important in MMA.

Also, from what little we've seen, I would say Tito's standup is alittle better than Matts. Tito's size advantage combined with similiar wrestling experience to Matt would make him hard to take down.

I would go with Tito but it could go either way. I thinks it'd be very rash to say that Matt would simply beat him no problem.

Chuck beats Rich by KO or TKO.
Tito beats Matt...too big of weight jump for Matt. Yes, Hughes walks around at LHW poundage, but he's not used to fighting there. Plus, there basic games are very similar and close.
