Referee- Herb Dean
Herb Dean is a joke!!! He stops fights way too quickly. Big John would have let Shamrock take the beating he rightfully deserved. I understand that Kenny didn't try very hard to defend himself but to his defense he wasn't given a chance with Herb jumping in at lightning speed. Herb Dean ruined what should have been a hell of a fight. What does Dana White see in this guy? He costs him money and ratings.

Ken took at least 5 unanswered elbows, he didnt even put his hands over his head to try to defend himself. If a fighter is not intelligently defending himself the fight will be stopped. Not trying to block elbows is not intelligent.

Herb is a ref, Herb is a fighter. Herb knows what he is doing, and Ken lost the fight. You got to see blood in the first fight, now stop crying.

I just think it was a very bad call on his part... calling it that quick... especially a fight w/ that much hype...

I think back to when everyone was saying that the referee stopped Gracie too early when he fought Hughes but the way I saw it, Gracie was definitely getting hit hard and was in trouble.

My point exactly how does one official allow the blood bath (Edwards vs Stevenson) and one stops a fight because of 5 elbows? Where do you draw the line.

I understand why you would have that question. The thing is, just because a fighter is bleeding doesnt mean that he cant defend himself. Ken wasnt bleeding but he wasnt defending himself either.

those elbows were short and weak. Not blocking them wouldnt have hurt very much.. if he had pulled back and laid some force into them it would have been different but those elbows were basically jabs.. very abrupt stopage .. ruined my evening

Short and weak? Short maybe but WEAK? Are you kidding? Ken was still shaken while trying to go down the stairs after the fight?

I like both fighters, and wanted Ken to win, primarily cause I wanted the clean up on the betting odds, but Herb Dean stopped that so pre-maturely had that been sex his woman would've been lookin' for a new man! He's only human though, and I think Herb's a fine ref, outside that. He shoulda let Ken take a few more before stopping it. You Don't jump up to your feet and be completely coherent, if those shots were damaging, like Ken did right after the stoppage. Shamrock got shafted. He should've been given a little more time.

big john and herb on are opposite ends of the spectrum Big John has always let them fight btu Ihave seen Herb stop many a fight prematurely. But I think bagging on Ken is just punk. The Gracie fight ended when it should have but this one did not. Shamrock is still a class act and Tito is a bitch.
Lose Herb Dean....

Hey now, enough is ENOUGH with those damned rumors about Herb Dean and his GF!
For the record he only stopped in bed because she was not intelligently defending herself....wait a sec...

Herb Dean sucks
I don't know what herb's problem is! He stopped this fight way too early! He didnt even give shamrock a chance. If you watch closely, herb goes in after about the 2nd or 3rd elbow! You can obviously tell that shamrock was still in the fight! FIRE HERB DEAN! And this reminds me, it seems like he did the same thing in Silvia V. Arlovski 1...

Im not saying that Tito showed a lot of class in this fight. But I think he did in the last shamrock fight. I cant say the same for Ken. Ken cant handle anything that doesnt go his way. It's sad for me to say this because he has been a hero of MMA in my mind sinc UFC1 (even though he lost to Royce). He says that ppl should respect him but I dont always see him giving it back.
Just my 2 cents

Not at all. My point is that Herb actually fights (or has fought) professionally. He has first hand experience of what is taking place from the perspective of someone in that position. That is the basis for what I said. How is that asinine?
Pretty much everyone is in agreement that Ken loses this fight, regardless of the stoppage. Had it not been stopped when it was, it would have been stopped five seconds down the road for the same reason.
Yeah, it was kinda early, but the fight was pointless anyway. I don't understand why people are getting worked up about it. The fight was a forgone conclusion, and nothing but WWE-style hype. Grudge match. Pshhhhhhh.
