Just don't be a douche.It's pretty simple.

It's ok to joke around sometimes, that's what makes this site fun,but some people can be just down right nasty.

No, I don't. If I called his gf a skank, yes, he'd punch my lights out without even thinking about it. Furthermore, I don't see why we should be discussing his choice of mate, which has dick-all to do with his chosen profession, unlike his work ethic and cardio.

There are lots of MMA sites where you can say whatever, or damn near whatever you want. But that's not what this site is about, and that should be respected. I like the atmosphere here and I wouldn't like to see it deteriorate.

Yeah, I probally tend to push peoples buttons from time to time and I apologize. I'm just very opinionated. Its my downfall. But I agree that this is the best site concerning fighting. We should help the Mods in anyway we can to make sure that it stays this way.

I've read the FAQ in this post. So far, I've posted twice in these forums and both time apparently I was brushing against the rules. Maybe it's not my place to say it, but over moderating forums might be something to consider. If you haven't seen a lot of newcomers here, maybe you know why. Perhaps you guys don't care either. If you are making money then you should care? Either way, if something has been posted about many time, then it makes sense that nobody would be interested, then the topic would flush out the system because of a lack of conversation. If it was getting posts, then people are interested in it still. Does that seem logical enough? Forums can flow if you let them. As a side note, the whole Pride vs. UFC thing isn't a user created issue, it's coming from the organizations. Hence, people want to talk about it.

I would like to stick around, but I have the feeling like newcomers aren't actually encouraged to post here.

People join every week, and they all start as strangers with zero posts. Some of them join in the discussions with respectful and well thought out posts, showing intelligence and a sense of humour. Some of them immediately start working their way through the list of things that the forum rules say you can't do here.

The latter group isn't actually encouraged to post here, but the former totally is, and you see that in the way that they fit in and soon become regulars.

And no one's making any money with this site. How would they? The pop-ups? The subscription fees? The merchandise catalogue?

i was new here a short while ago, i never had a problem with being new. maybe cause of some things i used to do i know you can't just come into a big group of people and make waves. i tend to hang out on the outskirts of the group listening to them and making small comments here and there, then jump in with both feet.
i've never had one of my first 10 posts be a thread starter cept for a hello i'm new thread.
i'm sorry if you had some problems with rules or something, but please hang around and get a feel for the site. i'm sure it'll be a thing of the past.
also i was on another board that the admin of the site was spending his own money to keep the site up. me and a few other donated to the site cause he couldn't afford an upgrade that was needed. so i really don't think anyone's getting rich off this forum.
every cent the admin on the other site had left over he put back into the site and sent out car stickers with the name of the site on them. everyone that donated got 2 of them.

i learned the "hanging out side the pack" thing surfing, and when i used to street race.
in surfing you can't just go to a spot and take all the waves. you gotta sit on the shoulder and wait for the waves no one wants, then after a while you can hang out and you will be a local

Vegas thanks for the comments. Honestly, I've been hanging on the outskirts in the sense that I didn't post here or register for a long while. Beyond that I've been a part of many many forums of various subjects, and the feel that I have as a so called welcoming feels like spit in the face. I've posted since but the truth is I've never been so insulted. Aside from that point, the money aspect I speak of is that of customer service. It's like, we care about you, a new customer because it's good for the company. If this forum/site isn't trying to make money, then they are selling themselves short. On the other hand, if there is nothing to gain from the owners perspective, then I suppose insulting newcomers isn't frowned upon.

Just to close on a relevant point, the FAQ is valid yes. The unfortunate part is there should be some caution around how sensitive the mods are here about locking topics or that n00bs should be using the search function. Afterall, how could any newcomer here have any idea what topics would be deemed lockable? Add to the FAQ that because a topic is deemed "talked about a billion times already" it will be locked and that n00bs should always use the search function before starting a thread. That might save some spit in face. Thanks.

You really think that's how the mods treat people when they start a thread about an over-discussed topic?

Locking topics is insulting enough, but if you haven't had something locked then you can't relate. Add to that spit in your face comments when locking the topic. I have thick skin but there are people who should be mods and those that shouldn't. I leave that up to the site owners.

locking threads is done to prevent many many similar threads, which makes it very hard to weed through the garbage... i see what your point is, however you are taking it the wrong way... i will agree that some new people that come on here are ripped into right away unfairly but there are alot of people who have deserved it

You joined at the height of UFC vs PRIDE threads and we had deleted MANY in both forums, be it "Was PRIDE 33 crap" or "UFC 68 is gonna blow donkeys". Ok, those werent the actual topics but thats about how it was. I quickly closed that thread out of general frusteration of the duplicates that were popping up left and right that I was less than polite about mentioning duplicates, that one was my bad. Keep posting or I chase you with a cattle prod.

Don't ban him yet Aika, I think I'm on the verge of breaking his code.

To this day I still don't understand why "UFC 68 is gonna blow donkeys" was removed.
