WFA President thrown out of UFC61
Bitter rivals indeed. It's kind of funny to me that just as the UFC and Pride start getting along and sharing fighters, Dana sets his sights on the WFA as the "evil empire." Do you guys think part of the sudden arrangement with Pride is that this upcoming WFA show is impressive enough that Dana has decided they're the real threat?
Anyway, check out this interview on MMAweekly.com and tell me what you think.

These were the guys that I went after. Guys like “Rampage," who beat Chuck. I know Chuck wanted the fight [against Rampage in the UFC]. I think Chuck is a warrior and would fight anybody, but for some reason, the UFC didn’t want to bring Quinton in to fight him. They were scared. Quinton was available. They never made an offer for him. Ryoto Machida has been out there, the only guy to beat Rich Franklin. Why didn’t they go after him and bring him in?
Wow, the WFA is an organization to keep an eye on. What's their deal with Showcase? Showcase isn't PPV is it, it's just a regular cable channel. It's very exciting to see the increased prominence of MMA. The quickest route to popularity and success will be exposure on free TV events, not just PPV.
I'd like to know what the whole deal is between Pride and UFC. Specifically I wonder if the owners are maybe trading company shares, not just fighters.

Showtime (not Showcase) is a cable channel like HBO, where you have to pay extra for it but once you've got it, you get all of their programming. We still can't get HBO in Canada, and I think it's the same with Showtime.

Rats! Hopefully one of the Canadian pay-TV channels will pick the show up, like they did with The Sopranos.

I think the president of WFA should send Dana White 2 front row seats to WFA's event. That would be hilarious.

Technically WFA is the only real threat to UFC since IFL isn't competing for PPV buys. It seems like WFA's Showtime deal could happen soon, maybe even within the year. They (Showtime) have already showed the WFA countdown show several times already and I am confident that after their first PPV if Showtime likes what they see they might pick them up. Especially since these talks of UFC and HBO.

lol /agree. That would sound like a great card for the ufc to have rampage vs liddel and Machida vs Franklin, but thats really lame of them being afraid of their fighters losing their belts to WFA.

Send him one seat beside Shamrock, and have Shamrock lay a beatin' on him at half-time.

LOL. The only problem with that is there may be a chance that Shamrock would actually lose and get knocked out by Dana White.
