Default Is Pride going to lose some of their key fighters to the UFC soon?????

I'm not sure if they will or not, I just want to hear what everyone thinks about this. Ausserio and Anderson and now Wanderlei Silva have came over, Baroni is rumored to return, Cro Cop is in America now, I would love to see UFC sign some big Pride fighters like Cro Cop, Randleman, Fujita, Fedor or Alexander, there is so many good HWs in Pride, and if the UFC could sign them, then they could create a stacked HW division.

Let me know what you think?

I don't think the UFC is willing to pay those guys more than PRIDE FC already does. I think it's all a promotional thing since PRIDE USA is here now. I'm really excited to see the PRIDE vs UFC a reality again though.

I could've sworn I saw Fedor driving a SUV in Boulder the other day.

I like the sounds of all of that, except for Randleman. He should go fight KOTC or something.

Baroni is only "returning" as a representative of Pride in the same way that Wanderlei and Fujita are booked to fight in the UFC. It's a sharing of talent on a limited basis in order to bring more North American exposure to Pride before they make their U.S. debut. They're definitely not losing anyone to the UFC.

ROFL @ jmag... Seriously it would be awsome to see some more UFC vs. Pride... But I agree, I think the purses are just too big in Pride. The attendance at the average pride fight seems at least 5 times UFC's attendance

Sorry to disappoint you, but Baroni and Fujita will not be coming to the UFC. It was just a smokescreen for their real plan:

The UFC is on a campaign to recruit every known fighter named Silva.

Giant Silva vs Tim Sylvia. You heard it here first.

Bomber's right, although he wasn't supposed to say anything. The real story traces back to an ongoing argument that UFC fightmaker Joe Silva is having with his neighbor. His neighbor has threatened to get his brothers to beat Joe up, so Joe's arranging to have Wanderlei, Anderson, Assuerio and Giant Silva come to Vegas so they can all go over to his neighbor and Joe can say, "What now, b*tch?!? You got a problem with the Silva boys?"

A lot is made of attendence at PRIDE FC and UFC events. But, you have to look at the venues. The Tokyo Dome is in, of course, Tokyo (Japan). Tokyo is a city with 12 million residents -- a metropolis. They MUST have a larger venue to host the numbers. 50,000 or 100,000 fans in the Tokyo Dome is hardly a drop in the bucket of the over all population in Tokyo. Also, Japan has like 130 million people crammed onto an island 145,000 square miles.

By contrast, the UFC holds most of its events out in the middle of a desert in Las Vegas. And, Las Vegas has about 500,000 residents. The percentage of Las Vegas residents that attend UFC events is HIGHER than the percentage of Tokyo residents that attend PRIDE FC events.

Tokyo has roughly 5000 residents per square mile! Las Vegas has only 1000 residents per square mile. In Japan, a person can drive from anywhere on the island to attend PRIDE FC events. As we all know very well, the USA is many, many, many times larger and more vast than Japan. People in the US do not often travel long distances for a UFC event that they can more easily watch on PPV.

PRIDE doesn't make any money off of PPV in Japan either, they are on regualr TV over there.

PRIDE paid 7million Yen to Gomi after winning the lightweight tournament last year as a bonus.. PLUS his pay he gets in general. Just for comparison, thats about $61,000 dollars.

Oh, I wasn't aware of that part of it. Thanks for pointing it out.

I want to get into Pride like i am in the UFC. The only problem is that it seems like a hassel since i live in Texas, USA. I will have to pay for two ppv and i dont have that money laying around. I wish there was just one organization that had all the fighters and it was free reign.

this is sort of off the main topic but..
one of the best ways I can see for spreading the MMA love is a personal fight night, if you get even just 2 or 3 friends to chip in on the PPV it is very much worth it...

I remember my grandpa and uncle have boxing nights with food, drink and of course boxing, and the whole damn family would be over not just the fight fans.....

Thats what we do. We usually give $5 each, swap houses each time, have finger foods and BYOB. We always have $$ left over to pay for the snacks. We now can watch UFC, PRIDE, WFA, KOTC, nearly every week it's something LOL!
