See, that's what most MMA fans don't think about. They just say "Wanderlei is the best" or "Tito is the best." It's all about styles and match-ups in the sport of MMA, and this is a great example.
Wanderlei Silva is probably a better overall fighter than Ricardo Arona, but Arona matches up very well with Silva because of his style. He has given him hell twice in the past year, winning a close one and losing a close one.
The same can be said for Tito's style. It's similar to Arona's as far as I'm concerned.
Tito and Silva could fight 10 times, and 9 of them would probably go to decision. It's just the way it is. Great point angryjonny!
By the way, where the hell is Ricardo Arona?

Wanderlei Silva fought crocop and as a matter of fact hung iwth him, earning a draw.

I agree that Tito is a much harder match up for Wanderlei and has a much better shot at beating him than Chuck.Chuck wants to keep the fight standing, and if he's allowed to stand back and pick his shots Wanderlei will have problems, but I seriously doubt that will be the case.Whenever Chuck throws a punch Wanderlei will run in and go for the clinch, and from the clinch Wanderlei is the best in the biz and will feed him knees all night.Tito is a different story.Tito will take Wanderlei down, but can he keep him there??One mistake on his feet and Wanderlei will be on his back against the cage taking elbows. So I think it his highly plausible that Tito can beat Wanderlei, more so than Chuck.
Wanderlei can stand with anyone in the world including Chuck.
Tito can control the fight on the ground, but can he keep up with Wanderlei's ferocity,or take that intensity away from him??

that fight was a special rules event. CroCop's first trip to Pride. the fight was a draw by rules, no winner at the end of the fight by KO or TKO and it was an automatic draw. no judges.

Oh, I hadn't heard that. I thought Cro Cop should have won, but I assumed they called it a draw because I know Pride judging rules take into account size. The bigger fighter has to show more to win or draw.

This should be an exciting fight but I believe Wanderlei has gotten so much better that Tito won't last long. Those knees are deadly.

Are you serious? He's the same ol fighter.... How long have you been a fan?
Tito's game has dramatically gotten better, no one has swept Tito, he has great hands, awesome takedown defense, powerfull slams, and a freaking cardio game that rarley tires. Put Tito in against Forest again and Forest would get owned, It would be just like the 1st round of their fight but only worse and it would last all 3 rounds. Show me one opponent besides couture his gnp didnt work on, and dont say chuck because he was ropped into a stand up game which he couldnt win, Next time I believe Liddel has another thing coming.

Tito tried to prove something to Chuck so i dont really use his fight with Chuck to assess his abilities. no matter how you scratch it Wandy/Chuck/Tito are the top at that wieght and there is no clear favorite amongst them. MMA is gonna be really exciting come next year.

Now there is a fight I would pay big bucks to see,
A 38 year old Couture vs Fedor
I won't even guess the outcome, but I would sure like to see it.
And sorry for the thread hi-jack.

Randy was great in his prime but I still think he wouldn't have a chance against Fedor. Randy got beatdown by Ricco and even I can admit that Ricco back in the day isn't capable of beating Fedor. Yes I know it's a little bit of MMAth but that's not the only reason I would pick him I think Coleman is a better wrestler and Fedor handled him pretty well.

to say that randy in his prime 'wouldnt have a chance' against fedor is very strange. granted fedor seems unstoppable now and is truly a great fighter, but how many times had randy overcome that underdog status? the guys a living legend. also, fedor's only mma loss was by Tsuyoshi Kohsaka, a man who randy dominated.

granted TK got a win on his record, a cut less than 20 sec. into the fight is hardly a counter point to how well Randy would do against the last emporer.

thats true, but my point was that ricco's win is also not a counter point to how well randy would do against 'the last emporer'. all be it a more convincing win, randy dominated the first round and most of the second, and at a couple of points it could have easily been stopped had randy successfully landed just a few more blows. bottom line is that you could never the natural out of any match up when he was at his best.

Im a big Randy fan but i really dont like his chances against Fedor. He would not control Fedor on the ground and would get put on his back. Im not saying it wouldnt be a good fight but the outlook is grim for the natural.

Very true, Fedor would probably easily beat couture. As you can look at fedors resume, the guy can fight any style he wants and aadapts to any style. ie. like mentioned above agaisnt coleman who is a great wrestler. Also, changing his approach and pressing action agaisnt mirko crocop, and was able to beat noguira on the ground, fedor is not just all around, but he is world class in every aspect of the game. His striking, heavy hands, ground game, submissions, his defense, and his strength. He is just one of a kind fighter, and im glad we have somone like him in MMA

WAIT A SECOND, FEDOR'S LOSS WAS FROM A CUT, FEDOR WAS PERFECTLY FINE AND WAS GONNA BEAT HIM, IT HSOULD HAVE BEEN NC. IF YOU WATCH THE FIGHT, AFTER THE OUT COME U CAN FIND FEDOR STANDIGN TO THE CROWD IN SHOCK TELLIGN EVERYONE ITS NOT OVER AND IT WAS A ******* CALL. THINGS LIEK THAT HAVE TO HAPPEN TO GREAT FIGHTERS, THAT UNLUCKY CUT WILL COME.

i love randy, he's my hero... but fedor would have no problem with him...
as armbar said, fedor adapts to his opponent's style and beats him. i can't believe he gnp nogueria even tho he knew big nog wanted the fight on the ground...
