And everyone know for the last six and a half years Tito has bee sitting around eating bon bons![]()
In 2000, ortiz defeated Silva in the UFC Middleweight Championship bout. I respect ortiz alot, but he has said he can beat silva and he is capable of sending him bacck to japan as ortiz states he did last time. Im not saying wanderlei is an automatic win vs. ortiz, but years ago silva was not the fighter he is now. i think he has improved tremendously into one of the best fighters in the world behind fedor crocop and big nog. I think wanderlei would defeat ortiz easily however i respect the work ethic of ortiz and like him as a fighter, but i respect the improvemnt of silva. Going into pride as formed him into the one of the best fighters.

Rampage on Liddell:
He aint got no excuses, "I made a mistake and got caught in an ass whoopin."
I can't see Tito beating Wanderlei. I can see him saying he will though. ;~)
Randy Couture: I’m more of a battle of attrition, take you down, beat you up till you really don’t want to fight anymore, type of fighter
BJ Penn: It's just the wrong time to fight BJ Penn.
ARE YOU READY?
ARE YOU READY?
LET'S GET IT ON!
Tito will beat Silva again. Right after he wins the belt from Chuck in February. Wanderlei will be getting his second title shot and he will fail a second time.
honestly its funny to me. everyone keeps saying how Wandy is such a better fighter then when he beat Ortiz. which is true BUT Tito is a better fighter then when he beat Wandy. so to me Ortiz vs Wandy is a really good fight. i might say Wandy has the edge a lil. but i wouldnt say it would be a serious push for either side. i imagine a Wandy Ortiz rematch would be really explosive and a hell of a match.
Tito seems like the same fighter as in his old days.. ground n pound strategy which won't work on a decent to good fighter (Forest).. Wanderlei will probably fight Tito since Dana White already mentioned that there will be 3 fights with him in the UFC (this is from the UFC 61 post conference). This should be an exciting fight but I believe Wanderlei has gotten so much better that Tito won't last long. Those knees are deadly.
Actually compared to other fighters work ethic that is a fair comparison. He hasn't done a whole lot but I'm not saying he isn't good. I hope Tito wins his title back but he's got to convince me. It's been so long since he's had a really good showing. On the flip side Tito's style is a bad matchup for Wanderlei. It would be a close match for sure.Originally Posted by TaddT189
Coin flip fight in my opinion. I think people let their personal feelings for Tito get in the way of the fact that he is one fo the best fighters in the world at his weight. People also say how much better Wanderlei is now, compared to how he was 6 years ago. People fail to mention how much more rigid Tito's training routine is now, compared to back then.
I think that Wandi is one of the sports more prolific strikers, much as Chuck is. I also think that if Wandi and Tito get it on again, the fight may end pretty similar to how the last Chuck / Tito fight ended. Of course Tito is talented but we have seen how he stood up to a great striker before and I just think that might replay itself.
pretty much. gets up at 1pm... does a lot of his style specific stuff (grappling, muay thai) once a week (from his all access). he was done when the sun is still up... compare this to rich's regiment...Originally Posted by TaddT189
I watched Pride a few times, and didn't like it. Reason is that, most of Japanese fighters are too weak in striking, often get KO as a result. Almost anyone match up with a Japanese fighter will get a KO 80% of the time. It is true, that Wanderlei is a monster, but who has be been winning over ? mostly weaker Japanese fighters/ opponents. When faced with someone like Tito, Belfort, what did really happened ?? I don't think Wanderlei will be able to take out Tito, or any high level fighter of the UFC. He will give a good match, but will not KO UFC fighters like he always does to weaker Pride's fighters. Anyway, Chuck will come out with the W against Wanderlei, and so will Tito.
Yeah you're right, Pride has weaker striker. Cro cop, Wanderlei, Fedor, Aleksander, Mark Hunt, Gomi.... no strking power there. And the japanese fighters do seem to have weaker chins.... take Fujita for example. *sarcasm off*
A mixed martial artist should have a mixed arsenal.

May all the glory of Brock be with you.
Excuse me but your information is very hurtful to hear. Wanderlei's opponents weak you say??? Wanderlei has beaten sakuraba numerious times, vicotories over dan henderson and quinton rampage jackson and ricardo aron. these are all premier fighters. And you say "high level of UFC", im not sure if you know much about MMA but pride is the top MMA organization in the world.Originally Posted by MillerLite
whoa...i must say i disagree with your assessment. as far as i know pride has a pretty good mix of fighters, i take it when you write "japanese fighter" you mean pride fighter. you see a lot of KOs in pride for several reasons. 1) there isn't much ground and "lay on your opponent" strategy in pride from the lack of a cage and because the ref will standup any sign of prolonged stalemate. 2) the KO power of pride fighter is no joke. cro cop/fedor/henderson/gomi all can KO with a clean connect. pride has the best heavy weights in mma and arguably the best 205-lber in silva.Originally Posted by MillerLite
tito did in fact beat silva a while ago, but silva's game has just improved so much, i don't think tito can match up with him again. if silva can hang in the ring with a 250+ power striker like crocop, trust me he can more than hang with chuck. think of it as jeremy horn beating chuck the first time and chuck destroying him the 2nd time around.
hmmm i dont know about saying he can hang with Crocrop means he can hang with Chuck. its not just that Chuck is a premier striker its also that he's a different kind of striker. Chuck/Silva is gonna be one hell of a fight and i cant wait to see it.
you are right, chuck is a different kind of striker than crocop, but my point is crocop is bigger and stronger, if silva has no mental block (AA-sylvia 3) vs crocop, he's going to be more than fine vs chuck...
And if Cro Cop picks Silva apart? What then, does that mean he will change his game plan for Chuck?
I am pretty stoked to see both these matches, as well as an eventual Tito vs Silva rematch.
You don't have to compare Rampage's and Tito's fighting styles just watch the fight from when they fought before. Vanderlay has wild punches and gets taken down from good wrestlers pretty easily. And for the person that Tito doesn't train hard you need to quit being so biased, Tito trains harder than just about anyone in MMA. And ground n' pound does work against good fighters (look at the first round of the Forrest fight) but yes a messed up knee does screw with the explosiveness in your knees.Originally Posted by Ryduce
