Default Royce Gracie wants a rematch with Matt Hughes...

During an interview, Royce said he wanted to get a rematch with Hughes and that they are in talks with the UFC to see if it will happen. I know a lot of people may write this off as an automatic win for Hughes after seeing the last fight but for me, I'd love to see them go at it in a rematch. I still think that Royce would have a chance and pulling a submission. May not be likely considering Hughes conditioning and strength and Royce's age but its still very possible. Here's the link...

No disrespect to Gracie but it would be another slaughter. He didn't even come close to a submission in the first match. I can't see Hughes really being interested. Question is, if they were put on the Oct. show with Tito/Shamrock what would they title it?

There's no doubt that Royce is the sentimental favorite but... Hughes would destroy him, again, in the first round. That being said, GSP would beat Royce. Hell, Tanner would beat Royce. The sport has changed and Royce hasn't.

This quote made me laugh my ass off

MMAWeekly: Touching on Hughes, did you learn anything from the fight? Did he surprise you?

Royce Gracie: No, we knew what he was planning to do. We worked out his gameplan before the fight, and he did exactly what we expected. I over-trained for the fight. That was all. I started training too much, too hard, for too long. He did exactly what we expected.

MMAWeekly: With the training for the fight, who did you work with for stand-up?

Royce Gracie: Fairtex.

MMAWeekly: Did you adjust your training specifically for Hughes? Did you bring in any wrestlers to roll with?

Royce Gracie: No, we only trained with Fairtex outside of our team.

MMAWeekly: Did you not feel that training with a strong wrestling camp would have benefited you?

Royce Gracie: No.

MMAWeekly: What would you do differently?

Royce Gracie: Not over-train.

The dude is set in his ways.

than it shall be his undoing......Because if he doesn't change things up the only fighters he'll be able to beat are the "losers"

Did JR make 400K, or 1 Mil ? thought I saw someone else posted that he made nearly a mil for that quick beating intake.

Gracie makes a lot of money doing siminars around the world. He stated that he usually does them for about six months of the year. I know that 400K and up is a LOT of money for a fighter in mma at the moment but to get someone like Royce to fight, he basicly can write his own check. I think if the fight is marketed right, they wont have any lack of people either watching it on an UFN or buying the ppv with that fight on it.

Also, if this fight takes place, it will be after the Hughes / GSP rematch. If Hughes doesnt win this fight, then I dont think there would be a problem with putting Hughes vs. Gracie on an UFN. If Hughes retains the belt, dont look for them to put one of his fights on an UFN anytime soon.

How about UFN: Last gasp for glory

or: UFN: into the sunset

or: UFN: the massacre of the ages
