Fujita was supposed to be the first Pride heavyweight to represent in the UFC, and I was hoping he'd be fighting Sylvia. Unfortunately, it's starting to sound like this whole Pride vs UFC thing is falling apart.

First Dana has said in recent interviews that he "hopes" Wandy-Liddell will still happen, but at this point it's impossible to say for sure (something about the Japanese being very difficult to do business with. *cough*racist*cough*).

Then Phil Baroni, who was one of the other Pride fighters set to fight in the UFC this fall, came back and said it's no longer happening.

So who knows about Fujita, or Wanderlei for that matter?

I'd love to see Big Tim fight any of the Pride heavyweights, even though I feel like any of them would be more than he could handle.

I'd like to see Fujita against Tim. I think Timmy would have his hands full.

I have to agree with the poster above me, there is way too much Fedor worshipping going around...BUT, Fedor is too much for Tim. Just because people act like Fedor is unbeatable, doesnīt mean Tim can beat him all of the sudden. That just doesnīt work. Once could WISH for Tim to beat him, because one is sick of all the comments about Fedor being this and that, but in reality the odds are against Tim.

If any of the HWīs in UFC were brave enough to fight against Fedor or at least try, they would have stepped to him in Pride. Itīs ridiculous to assume that Fedor has to come to the UFC to prove himself. Fedor is sitting on the Pride throne, and hasnīt been knocked off yet. If Tim really wants some, he can get on a plane and fight Fedor. Pride would gladly allow him to compete, just as they did Chuck when he came to Japan. However I personally, although I donīt think Fedor needs to , or has too, would still welcome him stepping into the Octagon to fight the UFC champ, not because he has too, but because I just would like to see the fight.

Having said that, I donīt know how the fight would end. Fedor has a whole arsenal of ways of ending a fight, he could submit Tim, knock him out, or just GnP him into a Tko or UD. Fedor can take you down, he can stand up with you, he can do the whole nine yards. Tim could probably show some nice stand-up, but Fedor adapts very fast to a fighter and does whatever is necessary. If Timīs stand-up shows any kind of trouble for him, he would take him down and end the fight on the ground. However after watching him go head to head standing up with CroCop, I doubt he would have trouble with any of Timīs stand-up.

The UFC and Pride ( since they are now also in the states ), could gain alot from a unification match. I think it would even be a bigger seller than Chuck vs Wandy (if it even happens). It would draw all MMA fans, regardless of UFC or Pride. MMA is growing, and I think both Pride and the UFC could gain alot by staging Pride vs UFC events, but is the UFC ready for something like that? Is Pride? For the sake of MMA letīs hope it happens.

The only way that Tim Sylvia can fight Fedor in PRIDE would be with the blessing of the UFC. Otherwise, the UFC will strip Sylvia of the HW title the same way that they stripped Baby Jay Penn of the WW title. If Sylvia loses the UFC HW title, then he can do what he wants. But, honestly, who wants to see Tim fight Fedor after Big Tim has lost his title. We all seem to want the best versus the best. That gold belt is the icon of the best fighter in the HW division (for both promotions). Tim could give the title up, and go to PRIDE as the unbeaten HW champion. I doubt that will happen.

At the Pride Press Conference for the event in on the 21st of Oct. in Las Vegas, they announced Mark Coleman as the opponent for Fedor. They also mentioned that only one guy stepped up and accepted to fight Fedor and that was Mark, when the name Tim Sylvia came up, they mentioned that Pride offered Tim a fight, but he refused, of course that has to be taken with a grain of salt, but thatīs what was said.

If Tim and Fedor fought, I dont think Fedor would have any problems with his striking and if he needed to, I dont think that Fedor would find it any problem to take the fight to the ground. I think the only area that Tim has Fedor is in the reach and I dont know if that would add up to much when push comes to shove.

I dont think this fight would sell more than Liddell/Silva. Chuck, Fedor, and Wandy are all three big market guys. I dont think as many people care about seeing Tim Sylvia fight. None the less theyll still probobly be the 2 biggest events in MMA history.

I wonder if that was the UFC refusing it or Tim himself......

Isn't Tim contractually obligated to fight whoever the UFC tells him to,and if he were to fight anyone else wouldn't that be a breach of contract?

I think Tim has no problem fighting Fedor, but do you think Dana wants the same thing to happen to him that happened to Chuck in front of an American audience? That would be bad for buisness, and ruin the credibilty of the UFC.

I dont hink it would be bad for the UFC. everyone that knows anything agrees that Fedor is the baddest man on the planet, maybe ever (i think so) Tim doesnt have much to loose in that respect.

Hardcore MMA fans know that, but I'm not sure casual UFC fans know. I bet there's alot of casual UFC fans that don't even know who Fedor is. If Tim went and lost while he was UFC champ, the already terrible UFC HW division would be even more of a joke.

ppl have to stop underestimating tim, he is the champ for a reason, so is fedor. So dont act like tim cant make a match. He would be a strong opponent for fedor, for crying out loud he trains with the best in the world hands down. He will be well prepared for the fight no matter where it goes. I wish that tim would make fedor tap out. That would be awesome, and i wouldnt have to hear of fedor no more, but ppl will make excuses for him like they do for tito when he lost to liddel

Rewatching some old fights of Tim I get more impressed by him. Yes, the Silva fight was horrid, he has beaten the big guys Arlovski twice, Rodriguez (oh yeah loved his bring on Nogueira after beating Couture at UFC 39), McGee, and Correira. He got sloppy against Arlovski in their 1st meeting and against Mir. Look forward to his match against Monsoon. As for Fedor he would really have to be on the top of his game to even make it to a 2nd round with Fedor.

Im sure Tim Sylvia could sub Fedor because he trains in Iowa. even though Big Nog couldnt do it in two and a half fights......
