Whats happened to Nate Marquardt???
Just wondering if anyone has heard of Nates future in the UFC if there is any??? He was a contender for the title who was just beginning to become comfortable in teh UFC and fighting the way he usually he would.
Anyone got any rumors or news, please post.

I've heard his name batted around in the past couple of months for possible matchups among UFC middleweight contenders, so he's definitely around. Before Anderson Silva showed up, it seemed to be all about Swick, Marquardt and Loiseau. Since Swick is fighting the Crow, maybe Nate the Great will be Anderson Silva's gatekeeper to a title shot?

That would be a fight I would like to see, or they could put him against Leben and see if Leben can redeem himself and get into contention again, or if Nate is just too much for Leben to be a contender.

Sure. Marquardt would be a good match-up for Leben, and a good test. And I don't think the UFC's going to let Nate just wander off -- Dana seems to really like him. After the Salaverry fight, when Nate tested positive for a banned substance, Dana could have just said, "Okay, you screwed up, dummy. Enjoy your suspension." But instead, he went to war on Nate's behalf and publicly stood by him, saying he believed Nate 100% that he hadn't juiced and wouldn't. Fortunately, the athletic commission granted him an appeal and he tested clean the following week.

I hope he fights soon. His fight with Doerksen at 58 was pretty good.

Nathan Marquardt vs Dean Lister
This match is rumored on MMAweekly for UFC 66. Thoughts? Comments? This is going to be a great fight if it happens.

I think Nate would own him. IMO Listers last fight was weak as hell. He gassed out quickly(from what I can remember anyway). I figured his cardio would top notch working out with Tito's clan. Hopefully he improved it, which Im sure he did, because he'll need it if taking on Nate.

Marquardt should win although Dean is one of the most dangerous fighters to go to the ground with. Winner to fight Swick for #1 contendor spot most likely.

Lister's cardio was terrible in his last fight and his striking is... wait a minute, he has no striking, and no real defence unless he gets a takedown. I think people are giving Lister too much credit. Yes, he's super at BJJ, but this is MMA. I'll go with Nate.

Yeai forgot about Lister. I don't think he would have a chance against Silva with the standup he showed in his last fight. But once he shows some decent standup, he's going to be a monster.

Thats weird , Right after ufc 64 I stated in the live chat that this match should go down and would be amazing , If its true its gonna be a amazing fight. Don't question Lister's Condictioning , even though his last fight was alittle disppointing , But he was pissed at himself so I know we will be ready to go for a giant fight like this. Lister is like a early Royce Gracie if it goes to the ground it could be over at anytime, Having said that Nate is a beast who has excellent Ground game aswell. I think the longer it goes give the edge to Lister .

Read the sig.I don't know what this guy has to do to earn a title shot.
Lister is as dangerous as they come on the ground though, and he even beat Marquardt in the ADCC,but this isn't a grappling match.
Could be either a super entertaining fight,or a repeat of Salaverry/Marquardt.
If Marquardt keeps it standing he will own him,on the ground it's about 50/50 until Lister gasses.

It seems like Marquardt will never get a shot. Maybe they'll find some loop-hole to fire him first..oh wait didn't they already do that with another #1 contender?

Marquardt would be more than Silva could handle IMO.

I have a feeling Marquardt is going to get the Lindland treatment. He will probably get promised a title shot several times. Then he'll wear a t-shirt that Dana doesn't like. Nate just isn't popular with the casual crowd, even despite how exciting his fight with Doerksen was.
