he had major back surgery to fix a crushed vertabre (or similar) he has a nice blog that talks about it and he hopes to be back in the ring but future is a little uncertain until he finishes rehab.

He had vertebrae scraping against each other, and it was only continuing to get worse. His career was basically over, and his one shot was major surgery that actually had a pretty high risk-factor (as in, if something went wrong he could have ended up with partial paralysis).
It seems to have gone well, so now he's just got a long road of physio ahead of him. If you're a fan, cross your fingers for him.
Edited to Add: No one's ever confirmed this, but I think his back got screwed up when Rich Franklin folded him in half with that right cross.

thank you for the responses... and sorry i didn't see another thread. yeah i figured there must have been some damage done when he got folded and went stiff like that. i hope he does well but it sounds as if we will not see him in teh octogon again? would be a real shame.. the guy's got a ****load of talent but like i said he was pushed too quick. back problems are very serious and even if he is cleared to fight he should consider what will happen if he gets it damaged again
