Monson will have a tough time getting inside Sylvias strikes but if he does and can take it to the ground, I dont see him having much trouble submitting big Tim. Also, with Monson being so short and stocky, it might make it a bit more difficult for Sylvia to throw the kind of punches he likes to throw in a match. It will be a very interesting matchup and Id love to see Monson on top. That guys is a machine.

This fight will be five rounds of Sylvia standing in one spot, waiting for Monson to come in, and then flicking the occasional jab. Sylvia wins by unanimous decision. I think this may be the first ever fight where Rogan and Goldberg actualy fall asleep during it.

Nah i see Sylvia with a KO. Monson just isn't that docile. He's going to keep coming in regardless of if he gets his and eventually he'll get knocked out. I hope to god he gets it to the ground and can keep it there, but i just don't see it happening. We might see a little more aggression out of Sylvia sinse his standup is leagues ahead of Monson, but i won't count on it. he has the belt, so someone has to take it from him. So until he losses it his gameplan will be even more counters than usual.

Thats true, its like they said about AA. To be the champ you must "beat the champ"

After looking at their fighting styles and their past fights, Im going to be going with Monson on this one. I think he is just a bad matchup for Sylvia and will beat him.

You mean the same Monson who survived three rounds with Chuck?
If this fight stays standing I think Tim will win the decision, but if it goes to the ground then Monson will win by submission.

Monson will submit Sylvia. If Tim thinks he is just gonna stand there and throw an occasional punch and get the decision, he has another thing coming! Monson will get him on the ground and that will be the end of Tim's reign!

I think Tim will tear him up. I don't see Monson getting inside Tim's reach. Plus, I question Monson's stamina vs. Tim's. However, if Monson can manage to get it to the ground...Tim's going to have a tough time, but training with Militech and having Matt Hughes in that camp I don't see Monson getting him down...they'll have ol' Timmy ready. Plus, Tim uses Billy Rush for conditioning...he'll be in great shape. I think Monson will gas out if it gets into the fourth or fifth rounds.

I think Monson will have to get inside Tim and take down or else it will be a KO by Tim. How does Monson ground skills compare to Mir or AA who both subbed Tim?

All Monson has to do is get Sylvia to the ground once in 5 rounds. Once that happens, his short, heavily muscled limbs and skill in ground-fighting will give him enough of an advantage to take Tim out fast. OTOH Sylvia's reach and ability to sprawl give him a tremendous advantage standing. A quick knockout is a distinct possibility.
Nevertheless I'm going to call Monson on this one, because I think he can get inside and his low center of gravity will actually be an advantage against Sylvia's sprawl. I'm really looking forward to seeing this fight because of the huge disparities in size and technique.

i have seen Monson train, the guy is an animal in the gym, i will be surprised if he gases out. Monson is more than just strong, all of his 250lbs. of muscle is there to improve his grappling game, not for show. if Jeff can take Tim down Tim is in big trouble. however if Jeff can't get the takedown he is in for hard night. its pretty simple, two guys who are looking to execute differant gameplans. whoever fails to execute is going to be the loser. Monson is'nt going to out strike Tim and Tim is'nt going to out grapple Monson.

I want Monson to win it, I like both fighters but I like Monson more. But I think he's just going to get hammered and bloodied by those long, strong strikes standing up. Sylvia will win by stoppage or KO. Monsons a tough dude so I say ref stoppage. If he does pull it out I'll be real happy though.
