Joe Riggs
Hey everyone i am new to this forum.
Is it just me or is Joe Riggs coming around faster and faster. His last fight against Von Flue was crazy good. He is currently my favorite fighter and i hope he can continue to grow under jeremy horn and elite performance!

Alright Im going to be the ******* and say it. Riggs ain't that good. He is strong but gasses. He couldn't knock out a light 170 pounder. Nick Diaz. But in fairness Nick is a very tough fighter. Beating Von Flu is not even worthy of us discussing. I like Von flue but he isn't even in the top 20 in that weight IMO . While Riggs can improve and get better......... He isn't the cat's meow and not even in the top 10 in the 170. I don't hate or really dislike the guy, but did turn me off the way he blamed everybody for his ass beating buy Matt Hughes ... BUT HIMSELF. There I said it. Nothing personal to him or you, just a different opinion. WarDawg

He's an ok fighter, and he is young. The problem is that the other young guys(Karo,Diego, etc)are light years ahead.Maybe he can continue to progress, but he is just a really good undercard fighter right now.

Joe Riggs is one of my favorite fighters. His downfall at the moment is his inconsistency. From changing weight classes to not knowing if he'll perform well, poorly or anywhere in between. Matt Hughes is a fighter who always shows up in the same dominating fashion and is an important factor as to why he is so successful. Joe has had too many off days (eg vs Matt).
Joe says he wants to stay at 170lbs. This is the first step, letting your body settle in to a weight class. In the past I think he gassed for a combination of 2 factors. Cutting too much weight in such a short span (like 30lbs?) and not training as hard as he could.
I don't know when it will happen, but I think Joe will start putting everything together and start showing up more often than not. He is young and talented and will be a force to be reckoned with in the future imo.

he is only 24 and has over 30 fights under his belt... if you can find any videos of his practice spars... it will just blow your mind. the ufc keeps him around after he lost 3 because of his ability. he knows it and it sucks but he cant perform in front of the crowds the ufc brings in.

Did Riggs drop back down to 170? I thought he wanted to stay up at 185. I thought he had too hard of a time cutting that much weight. Maybe losing to Swick made him think he didnt have much of a chance at 185. BTW, beating Von Flue means nothing. I doubt he'll ever get another title shot.

If he can find and stay in a certain Weight class he will be golden. Riggs fighting Flue .. was some god awful match making.
Flue's little "bird flick" before he tapped in their last fight was a grad A joke. He shouldn't be let back in the UFC with such low class.
But getting back to Riggs.. I want to see him fight more. He has alot of talent and he is young. If he gets things going there is no telling where he could end up in the UFC.

Not everyone can be the champ. Joe Riggs is a solid B fighter, and win or lose, he's always entertaining to watch, and that's what's important.

i dont know. i predict good things for riggs. like someone else mentioned, hes still very young but has lots of experience. i dont see him being the champ anytime soon. but two, three years...it could happen. hes just gotta learn some damn submission defense. someone correct me if im wrong, but i believe all his losses have been by submission.

2 (T)KOs :sport-smi
5 Submissions
1 Decisions :sport-smi
and a no contest with Andy Montana
Will Hammond knocked him out with a wicked knee
Wesley Correira KOed him in round 2 about half way through
but for the most part the people that tapped him out are known or very skilled in submissions... and he now trains everyday with jeremy horn... when he started in the ufc he was with some other team. there is no way horn is going to let him make rookie mistakes like that anymore... his future is bright!
