Chuck Liddell made up over half the payroll. My dislike for him increases everytime I read something like that. They might as well give Jamie Varner a gift certificate to Marshalls.
How much of Chuck's paycheck do you think went to Coronas and Zima??

Babalu got 21 grand? WTF lol. That's pathetic for a titlefight.
These numbers will look mighty sad, when PRIDE's salaries for the U.S. event will be made public.

Thing is I wouldn't be surprised if Babalu had won that fight for him to still receive less than Chuck.

There's no question about that.
At UFC 59 Tito and Forrest fought. Their salaries WITHOUT WIN BONUSES were:
-Tito: 200, 000
-Forrest: 16,000

Why? Would your turn down 250 G? I think not. Dont blame Chuck for getting that much money, he totally deserves it, Its just the other fighters that are underpaid. How about washed up Mike Tyson still making 3 million for a nobody fight thats 10x what a talented belt holder in the UFC makes.

Pretty amazing that these people are putting their lives on the line to put on a show for the UFC and fans and all there getting is that much amount of money and yet they still do it. I wonder how UFC will do once Pride comes to the US, I could see some people making the jump from the UFC to go fight in Pride.

Chuck puts people in the stands and sells PPV events. You can't say the same for much of the undercard. A Forrest vs. Stephan main event would have had alot of people upset.
I'm sure when Chuck started out, he was earning some pathetic numbers, but he is one of the best LHW in the world now.
I do agree that the the bottom payouts have to be much better. If you are willing to risk serious injury you should be compensated a little better than $3k + sponsorships. On the other hand, Forrest made what, $32k? That is more in 1 night than most college grads make in a year.

I'd like to hear an explanation from the UFC of how they divvy up the pie. What portion of these millions from gate and PPV sales are profit? Plenty, no doubt. Especially with them running so many events a year. Greedy b******s.

i take it the UFC pays for fighter insurance and medical care?, i heard it was like $10 to have your hands taped, shows how much money is in the sport and how little the fighters get, we need to remember guys like sanchez only have like 3 fights a year, 3 fights at 16k isnt that much amount of money for a professional athlete, footballers here make like £40k per week, and dont do half as much training as a MMA top league fighter

you can sometimes find the gate and ppv profits that the UFC makes... they only take a fair cut of everything... they have alot of other expenses as well such as using the venue and their employees...
a new crop of people come in here complaining about the same thing after EVERY single UFC event... no fighters will jump to pride, in fact more pride fighters seem to be coming this way...

What perhaps annoys me the most about the salaries is the inconsistent pay out. e.g. If you're new to the UFC and lose you're first fight please pick a number 1 or 2. Number 1? Oh you get paid $3000. Number 2? Right you get $2000.

That's because fighters are risking life and limb and most are not getting anywhere close to fair compensation.
I can assure you that hidden in the expenses for the UFC are fat salaries paid out to the owners. Profits are over and above their salaries. Those gate and PPV totals are huge compared to fighters' salaries, and they're running UFN and Main Events about 20/yr, all of which contribute to fixed costs. A successful TV show like TUF pumps a LOT of cash. The UFC is stinking rich, and they should share the wealth with the fighters more equitably.

I have no problems with UFC paying its champions hugh $, since it's their names and talents that draws in the fans from all over, and brings in hugh profits to the UFC from PPVs and ticket sales. They earned their tittles and pay outs, and I am sure that they had to climb the ladder just like every other fighters, and was making small pay checks in their earlier bouts while moving up.
Only thing the UFC should fix, is to take better care of all other fighters financially, not just its champions or advanced fighters. It's an average of 8 fight matches in a PPV. Then at least a debut fighter should get 5K, 2 or 3 is just not right in my opinion. A fighter has his own training expenses, health issues, and family to feed too, while trying to make a name for himself.
After all, UFC is the big show, and surely does not want to see its fighters to go elsewhere just because they are not financially stable, while trying to better their mma career fighting in the UFC organization.
