I believe Chuck reveived 70k to show and 70k to win at UFC 53.
I'm not sure about Wand but I have heard rumors that he makes around 500k per fight.

No wonder Silva is only a spectator at the UFC events..
Dana White needs to step his game up, or all his best fighters might go to Pride..

This will be one of the most signifagant fights ever. In the cage Liddell would when. Silva in a cage isn't impressive at all. But at Pride it's a toss up. Liddell shouldn't get puton the ground or he will be stomped to death with out gettintg up. I don't see Silva hitting him with knees either. Liddell by descion in Pride and 2nd round TKO in UFC.

Are you kidding!
First off, to the idiot who said Wanderlei fights well in a cage. He gets beat in a cage, enough said. PRIDE is a bigger organization right now but that is going to change in the near future. To make that happen the UFC doesn't have to pay a fighter 500K a fight. For you PRIDE guys, why do we see Wanderlei ringside at UFC events but not stepping into the octagon? UFC fighters cross over into PRIDE and win, but they're smart enough to come back. Why don't we see PRIDE fighters coming to fight in the UFC. The money argument won't work either, so come up with a better excuse than that. Chuck would KO Wanderlei in the first round.

The reason the UFC doesn't pay a fighter 500k is because they can't. Up until recently Zuffa was making very little money if any with the payrolls they already had in place. Paying a fighter 500k is not an option for the UFC right now because they can't afford it.
As much as you don't want to admit it, Pride is where the big boys play. When Rogan asked Chuck what was next for him after he won the belt, what did he say? "I want the Pride belt." He realized that Pride is the next step up.
You are asking why doesn't Wanderlei come to the octagon and fight and you say don't use the money excuse. It's not an excuse. It's a fact. The UFC would have to pay Wanderlei if he fought in the UFC. My question to you is, why would Wanderlei go to the UFC to fight? What is in it for him? What does he have to gain by doing it?

Liddell vs. Silva
Alright LastExit34, BronxBomber has posted a thread titled New Chuck Liddell interview. In it Chuck gives an interview to Max Fighting talking about a possible fight vs. Silva among other things. Why don't you check that out. I'm not arguing that PRIDE can pay a top notch fighter more. But, would we rather have fighters who fight for money and personal satisfaction or just money. It's obvious that MMA fans want to see these 2 organizations send fighters into the other forum to compete. It is on PRIDE to do that.

Pride won't do that they have nothing to gain from the UFC. I like Pride I hope to fight in it one day. I don't think the cage versus ring is as big as a deal as ppl make of it I personally think it would be harder to fight in the ring because the cage is more used as an aid for fighters. I'm gonna start a thread woit a poll to see which ppl prefer.

Pride is definately where the big boys play. although i have to say that i will always prefer a cage to a ring. having said that i think Chuck is an excellent fighter but so is Silva. who would win if they fought? it would'nt be Chuck or Silva, it would be the Pride organization. If the two ever fight Chuck will be going to Japan, not Silva coming to UFC. Pride could sell 100,000 tickets if that fight was the main event on their card. the UFC is at a huge disadvantage, in Japan the general public accepts fighting as a sport 100X over. in the USA its still considered a novelty. most people just don't care.

i think, Pride pays more because MMA in Japan is their version of the NFL, NBA, MLB...bringing the best athletes together to compete and everyone one in their country being able to watch it. Cost of living has nothing to do with it really...in Europe its twice as much than at Japan. The bottom line why Pride can pay so much is because of a National Tv deal with the Japan networks....in addition to that tv deal which is in the 100-500millions like most professional leagues they also get pay per view sales from countries like the USA, so everyone in Pride makes money and thats why Pride can pay the best fighters in the world (regardless what UFC says) the purse they want....Its the same reason why professional organizations can pay their athletes millions because of their National TV deals....As MMA grows and gets accepted in mainstream Pride will come to the states only if the US government follows the roles that the Canadian government does with American run organizations like MLB or NBA or NHL... the roles: which is to let the organizations run it and sit back and collect checks from the taxes from their venues and television commercials....so for those that think UFC will grow think again bigger companies like PRIDE will buy it out if they feel the money in the long run will return in their investment...as of right now with US government trying to take control of everything Pride wont set a foot in the US because we are like a girlfriend bitching at everything involving themselves with everything causing drama and not knowing a dam thing about MMA.
