I have to weigh my options here. Losing a split decision to GSP's personal judges at UFC 58 or losing to Hughes at UFC 63 by gasing in round 3 after leading 2 rounds to 0 and having an eye-PUNCH that would of led to the end and the title for BJ.
Well now the X-factor. i HATE Hughes. OK, it's decided. GSP!:sport-smi
Plus the fact that he reminds me of the Pittsburgh Penguins' Marc-Andre Fleury.
Now there's a UFC.......
CROSBY FLEURY - UFC 66 -- PENGUIN PUNISHMENT.

hughes is definitly stronger then GSP.... i think hughes is strongest in his weight class with joe riggs at a very close second.... keep in mind when riggs fought hughes it was on very short notice and hughes was never able to pass riggs' half gaurd and tapped him out from it.... hughes tried many time and riggs wouldnt let him move..... GSP is strong too dont get me wrong but i think riggs and hughes are both stronger then him..... if hughes loses the belt and rich franklyn loses the belt hughes is going to fight in middle weight btw

matt didnt shoot like he does in normal fights though.... he kept going for singles... no slams... and went slow and covered to avoid being caught in something.... matt was definitly scared to shoot.... i know he can take down gsp at will..... but gsp is a great fighter.... he can fight from his back and he might take down hughes too

At will?! I don't think so. He'll get kicked in the chest at will, if he just keeps shooting. Another thing, someone else said that Joe Riggs is stronger than GSP. No way in hell. GSP is right there with Matt Hughes strength wise.
I think people are taking it for granted that Hughes will overpower GSP, just because St. Pierre fights very light on his feet. The man is as strong as they come at 170lbs.

haha i love how people say these things on the interweb like its fact or something.... i watched so many people sy BJ Penn will destroy Matt Hughes.... and that Matt Hughes ould never beat BJ Penn in a million years and all this crap. Well like it or not BJ Penn was unable to fight in the 3rd round of a 5 round fight (from injury {unlikly} or from acually gassing) and lost. GSP lost to Matt Hughes in less then a round the last time they met. Yes I am well aware GSP has grown as a fighter and isnt the same guy. But Matt Hughes has also grown and isnt the same fighter. He never is. He is always getting better and rising to the challenge. Matt took everything BJ had to give and then TKO'ed him. GSP Took one round of what BJ had to give and couldnt finish him. GSP is also 0 - 1 against hughes. i am not saying matt will win or will have an easy fight. I am just saying people are so sure of who is going to win and what they are going to do and for the most part you are always wrong. Just admit it. What you want to happen doesnt always!

You think I don't know that what I want to happen won't always happen? I want GSP to win, yes. I know Matt Hughes can't take GSP down at will. You make it sound like GSP has no sprawl. Hughes may get a takedown here and there, but not every damn time he tries.
I want GSP to win, yes. Am I sure he will? No. Do I think he can? Absolutley.
EDIT: My signature is not me guarenteeing anything. It is just my predictions.

Hughes will win again and PROVE that he is the most dominant Welterweight champion of all times. Hughes WILL, yes mark my words WILL take down GSP at will. And either GnP or submit GSP again.

If Hughes can take out GSP again, I will be impressed. He is clearly the most dominant WW champ of all times already, until someone else can defend the belt as often as Matt has.
I won't say he's the best WW fighter of all times unless he proves it by beating Penn and GSP two out of three. If he can do that, there's simply no argument from me ever again.

I can't wait for this fight
This fight is almost too close to call. I also picked hughes to win against BJ. That being said, GSP is amazingly strong for this division. I think him and matt will have a great fight again. Being Canadian, I gots to go with my boy GSP but I would love to see this fight go all 5 rounds.

GSP will win this time around GSP will be the new WW champion of the world.
He has to keep this fight on it's feet and if it does go on the ground he has to be on top not on the bottom.

To me it's simple. Penn was very effective on his feet. He landed shot after shot and Hughes looked like he was totally thrown off. He didnt effectively defend nor did he effectively counter-punch, except at mid point of round 2 I think.
GSP just needs to throw. If I were him I'd concentrate of defending the takedown well just like Penn did, and not allow Hughes to get in to his element. Make Hughes blow oxygen on an ineffective takedown attempts, then start landing punches and kicks on Hughes.

Why would you compare these two fighters by a common fight. Some people have their nights. The fights are two and a half years apart. That's like saying Mayorga would beat Oscar b/c Mayorga beat Forrest, who beat Mosely, who beat De La Hoya.
What about when Hughes made GSP tap in the first? Hahahahahahahahah...hahahahaha. yea that's what I thought.

GSP all the way on this one.
The first fight with Hughes and GSP, GSP got caught in an arm bar but this time around it will not be the case. I think it will be a 5 round war.
