We all have our flaws Grave. Enjoy the show? Nah. Happy for the winner? Yes.
I mean why not be entertained in between fights?
And as far as Jenna and Tito? I look at it more from a smart business perspective. Tito needs $$$.. MMA Needs $$$. Jenna has $$$... Jenna and Tito?? = Potential for big $$$$ endorsements for other MMA fighters/organizations etc...
It's smart business sense cause MMA on its own without big endorsements (as Pride FC is finding out) can't survive!!!!!Not in the U.S., not in Japan, Not anywhere! You need $$$ from advertising and big names (regardless where they come from ), to make business grow, even the fighting business. |

Jenna may be a porn star, but he's still a better "figure" for UFC, than some of the earlier chicken heads that Dana himself paid to do the job.
Like that Kerri Kasem... aargh, she drove me nuts with her fighter-interviews. Lisa Dergan and Carmen Electra weren't much better, I don't care if they had some uncle with a TKD-medal or something.
And as far as "making MMA more classy"... Meh, I never want MMA to be the most popular sport anyway. If someone doesn't like tough mofos going head-to-head in a cage and seeing porn stars, that's their problem.
Let's just accept that, us MMA-fans are cooler than all other people.

Correction: Sex sells, but ONLY to an extent.
For this you need not look any further than WWE. Once the ratings REALLY started to tank in the past 3-4 years, WWE seriously began taking advantage of the diva crap. Nightgown, jello matches, diva competitions,etc.
And look at WWE now. Dispite their cheap efforts to grab back viewers with the "sex sales" rule, WWE STILL SUCKS. They could'nt generate the kinda mega-ratings they had in their glory days, if vince's life depended on it.
So no, sex does not REALLY sell at all, it just "helps/aids" the main product. |
