Default Cote vs Lutter (SPOILER)

Excellent BJJ from Travis but very disappointing from Cote. Seems like when its on the line Cote chokes every time. Hopefully the WW final is better.

Yeah really quick fight. Lutter showed why he's the winner with good skills. Should be interesting to see his fight with Silva. Lutter is listed at 5'11 and Silva 6'0, but didn't Siva look like he had at least 3 inches on Lutter? Reach will definitely play a major role in this one.

Yea Silva Looked a lot taller than lutter.. I did the same thing and looked up their heights only to be surprised that their height difference is only listed as 1inch.

I can't wait to see Silva destroy Lutter...the Lutter/Cote fight was a little disappointing...I was hoping for Cote to take it to Lutter in round 2...but that’s how it goes sometimes...I just hope the Welterweights show a better fight...

I think Silva looked alot taller to us than Travis, because he was wearing shoes.

Even though I'd like to see Travis do well since he's from my hometown, I feel that Silva's stand-up will prove to be too strong.

Good point with the shoes...If Lutter tries to take down Silva like he takes down everyone else--so slow and lethargic--he will be knocked out for sure.

Yeah, but isn't Silva 6'2. I could have sworn he was taller than Rich and Rich is listed at 6'1. Could be wrong though.

Yeah, he could very well be much taller than he is listed. If I recall correctly, on a different thread someone stated that they have seen Jeff Monson's listed height vary quite a bit. So who knows how accurate the measurements are.

You would think the measurements would be standardized...

Lutter has a really technical takedown and it's hard to get up once you're under him. And you need to have great JJ to just survive on the ground with him. Silva does have that though.

Lutter dominated him just like I thought he would. Great showing by Lutter. Cote really needs to work on his ground game. Maybe get some more pointers from his buddy GSP.

Some fighters exaggerate their height, some don't. I've never heard of someone claiming to be shorter than they are though.

heres what is odd to me. i've seen many of people claiming Matt Lindland would dominate Silva but then i've seen alot of people claiming Lutter has no chance. i've been saying to everyone who i've talked to that Lutter was gonna win this fight. its why i think Monson will beat Sylvia. Styles make matchs and Cote was a huge disadvantage agianst Lutter. Lutter has the best chances of beating Silva from everyone that was in that house. now dont get me wrong i think Silva will beat Lutter but the reason i think he will is because his BJJ is pretty good and his takedown defense is really strong. i think it will be hard for Lutter to sub Silva. i see a knockout in the second round from Silva.

I'll be quite honest. I've seen every fight Cote has been in in the UFC and there really isn't a whole lot to be excited about. He's 0-4 in non TUF bouts and although he rocked Tito and took it to a decision his take down defense is really horrible. Anyone that fights Cote is nuts to not try taking it straight to the ground.

I see so many people praising Cote and I really just don't see why. The only interesting fights I'd like to see Cote in are fights against other brawler style fights with no ground game. Just a good old fashion slugfest. Maybe they can have him fight Scott Smith

Come on man, that's really not necessary. You've been around here long enough to know that kind of talk is unacceptable. Where is all this hate for Lutter coming from? He won that fight fairly and in dominating fassion. Give the guy the respect he deserves.
