No way they're having this fight before Swick gets his title shot. Leben is never going to be champ and it's unlikely he'll even have a title shot. Why take a chance on him unseating Swick (no matter how unlikely)?
Leben's major value to the UFC now is his win over Swick. Leben/Swick II is a good, saleable fight. It will happen, and if it's entertaining and both fighters are still around, maybe they'll even do the rubber match.

i think swick seemed so damn arrogant and presumptuous when he called out silva (implicitly or otherwise). i think that that young man i getting to big for his britches, and if he does magically get a fight and silva beats his ass down in highlight reel fashion, he will then lose to leben, and the ufc, in true ufc form, will let him go because he lost 2 in a row. then, and maybe only then, perhaps he will reconsider how he acts...who is this guy that calls out the champ when he has no reason or credentials to do so?
if he wants to cut his career short then let him. get him outta the way so there is room for a contender with some class and respect!
how many of us thought that din thomas looked like a fool for calling out sherk? yeah, i thought so!
GO MONSON!!!

No credentials? Swick is 5-0 in the UFC. He ended all of his fights in round one except for his UD win over David Loiseau. The guy deserves a title shot and if it wasnt for the garunteed title shot from TUF 4 he would most likely be Silvas first title defense. Now I think he will fight Rich Franklin and the winner will get the title shot. Like it or not Mike Swick is one of the top contenders in the division, if he wants to call out the champ he has every right to.

yeah, maybe, but i dont think so. it just seemed so tacky. and if swick deserves a title shot, why hasnt dana or the ufc responded to his request?
and aside from the crow, (who seems to be in a slump as of late) who has he beaten??) i am not sure that he beat the crow, i think the crow forgot to show up, and it still took swick a decision to beat him.

BTW UFCs rule is usually if they lose 3 fights they are out. If it was 2 AA would not be fighting in December.

Because he isnt going to give Swick the title shot, Lutter was already promised it. If you are going to say anybody doesnt have the credentials for a title shot it is Lutter.

sorry, this hard and fast rule you so diligently and vehemently claim (nice 'usually', btw) may be in effect, but it isnt really a rule of it doesnt usually happen, read through the other threads on here, the 2 fights and your out has happened at least a few times.
lets assume your right, maybe after he loses to silva, he can fight gideon ray again (that'll put asses in teh seats), then he can lose to leben, then he can be on tuf 6: the d!p****s who called out the champs long before they were ready, and the winner gets a contrcat, a watch, and discount plastic surgery.

He beat Joe Riggs, Gideon Ray, Steve Vigneault and Alex Schoenauer.
Although the last 3 arent much beating The Crow and Joe Riggs is not too shabby. That said he will get destroyed by Silva. I do think though that he could put up a good fight with Franklin.
As for The Crow being on a slump he lost to Rich Franklin and Mike Swick that is it. His only other loss was in 2003.

sorry bud, that sounded much harsher than it was meant to and the sarcasm didnt shine through as apparent as i had hoped. when i tried to fix it my wireless screwed up. anyway, you are absolutely right about lutter, that is the gimmick of tuf 4 (a horrible one i might add).
anyway, you make several great points, i just think he was being very tacky and disrespectful.
sorry again, it wasnt supposed to be that assholish, i trust there are no hard feelings

This "2-loss rule" everyone keeps talking about. It's not official is it?
This doesn't happen for everyone.

If a record of 2-2 is ready then surely 5-0 no matter how crappy the guys he beat are is ready.

There is no official rule its basically just once the UFC doesnt think the fighter is good enough to compete in the UFC or they just dont wanna pay them.

Good points...After Silva's fight with Lutter there isn't that many contenders to have him fight, so they probably dont wanna risk a Swick loss right now. If Leben did pull out the win it would be tough to market him against Silva after seeing the first fight.

No hard feelings. I dont like fighters calling out fighters I just feel they have the right to. It seems to be the trend these days.

Doesn't the UFC have to honor a fighter's contract by law and give them the number of fights on the contract?
