Should the UFC go back to tourney style?
I think having to fight once a night makes for more energetic matches, but what the hell do I know? Real fighters have tourney stamina.....

I have a split opinion. Yes More energy can be used in one fight, but if you do it tourny style you get a chance to get in that zone. But i guess you get to see some great fights either way.

I think 15 minutes of punishment is enough...When you get into tourney style, cuts and injuries are going to be more of a determining factor. I'd personally rather see 2 fighters lay it all on the line for 1 fight.

I like Tournaments more... everybody got their preferences. I love the fact that fighters Battle all night for the Crown. It would make UFC way more interesting, for me anyways.. other people love to see Single Matches.. all a matter of taste.

Well, I rented some of the earlier UFC events, and those were tournament-style. I really liked the idea of those because, as fans, we could get to see some of our favorites fight more than once in an event.
But overall, I think it's best to leave them like it is now. That way, more UFC fighters get a chance to compete, and the guys can bust their butts for one fight instead of pacing themselves for a couple fights.
Honestly, I think they should have one tournament-style UFC event each year. I feel that would be fair to all aspects and fans. They could have it in June or something like that. Have the other 4 or 5 events be the regular singles matches with no tourney but have that one event in June be tournament style. That wouldn't be too bad would it?
That would sure bring back some of the original days of the UFC..

I'd make one change.
I'd like to see open class again. There are enough styles mixed now that weight should not be an issue. I'd like to see an overall champion. A class in which fighters can showcase how badass they really are. That is if they are up for it.

i also liked the old tournament style. it was always great fun wondering who was going to make it to the finals. of course how many times did a winning fighter have to withdraw due to injury or fatigue? even Royce Gracie pulled out of the finals once, after fighting Kimo. that caused Ken Shamrock to step out because he did'nt have anything to prove against anyone but Royce Gracie. that must have been a downer for anyone watching that UFC. "oh, we could have seen Ken fight Royce again but instead we get two alternates."

i did like the tourny style in a way, but in a way it was a joke. i mean look at it like this. one guy goes out there fights a long nasty fight gets beat all to hell but wins.....his next opponent just got lucky in his previos fight bye knock out/submission. then you have a worn out/hurt guy fighting someone fresh. i dont think thats right.
also i remember in one of the early UFC's it came to the final fight, and one guy couldnt continue, so they brought in an alternate who was fresh, and hadnt fought anyone, against another guy who was hurt/tired....the alt whooped his ass and won the tourney. i have a major prob with that

Pride has the right idea with their tournaments. I think a similar system would be great for the UFC. Having all of the fights in one evening is bad for fighter saftey. Eight-man tournaments that span three PPVs might work. The final match would be the main event at the third PPV which would also mark the start of another eight-man tourney in another weight class. It would also make room for more matches that mean something like tournament quailfying matches for example.
The randomness of the fightcards in the UFC right now makes it difficult to follow from a fans perspective. I would much rather see an official ranking system, season or tournament format.

I like the tournament style format they used to use. I really liked it though when they started mixing in a couple of other fights to go along with the tournament.

Everyone seems to forget that these guys are still HUMAN, I fyou notice PRIDE fighters take way more damage when they are in TOURNAMENTS.. NOG brothers look at them there only in the mid 20s and they look 40 all wore out .. One fight is enough for these guys.. alot of people sometimes mis judge some of the punishment these althelets indure...
ONE FIGHT PER NIGHT .. 8 UFC BOUTS CANT GO WRONG
