Welcome. No Fedor fights for Pride and probably will retire there.
Be sure to read the rules and use the search function whenever you start topics and things will go smoothly for ya.

Hey man, welcome to the forum. I don't think Fedor would ever come to the UFC. Pride pays too well for that to happen. And I feel I can speak for everyone when I say that Fedor would definetly take out the UFC heavyweights.

Fedor just announced that he quit PRIDE and is coming to the UFC! He said that he had no competition in PRI--
I can't do it! I can't finish that one!!!
Fedor will never come to the UFC. PRIDE Fighting would let everyone else in PRIDE go before they would let Fedor slip away.

and with good reason. many feel that fedor is the best lb4lb fighter in the world. the fact that he is a friken good fighter and champ draws huge numbers, no matter who he faces.
fedor has become the linchpin of pride, which speaks volumes considering how deep there HW division is.
i would love to see fedor in the ufc on the one hand, but on the other hand having unbeatable champs gets kinda boring. to be fair, though, at least fedor is fun to watch. i dont think anyone disputes how good fedor really is.

not really.... that would be a boring fight. On second thought, watching the pride heavyweights give sylvia and crew a lesson would be entertaining.

It would be funny until AA and Brandon Vera started pounding out wins over the PRIDE HW guys. Seriously, we will likely never see a PRIDE Fighting versus Ultimate Fighting super-card. It is like the old WWF versus WCW days now. The two promotions HATE each other THAT damn much. It may take a decade to sort it all out. It may take one promotion driving the other into financial collapse. It may take the end of civilization.

yeah i seriously think the UFC's elite HWs are underestimated, i reckon Vera, AA and Tim would hold their own. saying that id love to see even the ranked 4th HW in pride fighting in UFC. they have Barnett, Cro Cop, Nog, Shogun, Hunt, Coleman, Alexander... surely these guys are bored in pride. its like a substitute at soccer playing for the likes of chelsea, they know they are good but the chances of them being the star are few and far between but they are just there for the money.
why not move and seek out new gold, chuck and tito get $500,000 ~ for their fights im sure a HW champ as big as the ones mentioned would do well.

Fedor will never be in the UFC. Honestly I wouldnt want him to be in the UFC unless the UFC also found somebody that could compete with him.
I would love to see AA vs Aleksander Emelianenko though. Make it happen Dana

We may very well get to see Aleks in the UFC.
Unless Dana objects to the idea of someone from PRIDE (who's not the best over there) coming and taking the title.
But this is what Aleks supposedly said in an interview for a Russian website.
Quote:
Interviewer: Who would you like to fight if you go to the UFC?
Aleksander: Whoever is the best there.
Interviewer: Would you like to fight in the UFC?
Aleksander: As far as I know there are negotiations in progress for me to fight in the UFC to set up some fights there. I want Fedor to stay the best in PRIDE, and I'll go try to take the belt over there.
Interviewer: Has PRIDE ever ask you to fight Fedor ?
Aleksander: No, but I hear people talk about it all the time. He is my brother and we will never fight in a competition, but there were showcase-like sambo matches where we did fight.
Interviewer: What did you say to Sergei Kharitonov after the fight?
Aleksander: Nothing. I just shook his hand.
Interviewer: Did you talk with Kharitonov afterwards?
Aleksander: No. He never came by to talk to me after the fight.
Interviewer: Do you ever play cards ?
Aleksander: Yes, sometimes.
Interviewer: Does it bother you that everyone percieves you only as Fedor's little brother rather then Aleksander Emelianenko?
Aleksander: No. Fedor and I have the same goal, which is to proudly carry our name on for years to come. First with Fedor, then with me, and then when our younger brother Ivan grows up he will take over. He is going to college right now, and is training in grappling, sambo, and boxing. We are trying to help him as much as we can, and you will see Ivan in the ring very soon.
Interviewer: What do you think about steroids, especially in PRIDE where there is not drug testing?
Aleksander: A lot of fighters take them. Pretty much everyone with big muscles is using them. It is impossible to grow such big muscles without steroids. My brother and I take vitamins here and there, but that's all we take.
Interviewer: Which fight was your favorite, and why?
Aleksander: It's hard to say. There are many.
Interviewer: Did it affect your game when Pawel Nastula started sweating profusely after the first minute of your fight with him?
Aleksander: No, not really. All fighters sweat in every fight.
Interviewer: Are you happy with your tattoos, and are you thinking of getting another one on on your chest?
Aleksander: Yes. Nothing comes to mind as far as wht tattoo I should get, but I'm thinking about it.
Interviewer: Who do you think has the best chance to beat Fedor right now?
Aleksander: After Fedor leaves there will be a new champion, but while he is fighting... No one. (laughs)
Interviewer: In your opinion, can you beat Tim Sylvia ?
Aleksander: Tim is a good fighter, but... let's just say that if I get the opportunity to fight him, I will take his title away with pleasure.
Interviewer: Is ther anything that you do better then Fedor in a fight?
Aleksander: I think it is better to ask this question to the trainers or the fans.
Interviewer: Who are you plan to fight in the near future? CroCop, Barnett, Nogueira... ?
Aleksander: For some reason, Barnett does not want to fight me again. Nogueira has turned me down three times, and to be honest there are noly any fighters out there that want to fight me at all.
Interviewer: Are you going to fight on the PRIDE card on December 31st?
Aleksander: I don't know yet. I am getting ready to fight on November 12th.
Interviewer: American fans are asking when will they be able to see you fight in the states?
Aleksander: I hope very soon.
Interviewer: What happened with Antonio Silva turning down an upcoming fight with you?
Aleksander: I don't get involved in promoter politics and don't know what happened.
Interviewer: Despite the fact that you are a sambo fighter, everyone notices that you like to fight standing. Why is this?
Aleksander: I feel very comfortable striking with opponents, especially with my hands. I might fight professional boxing matches soon. Oscar De La Hoya is guiding me in this direction right now, and I will fight professionally soon.
Interviewer: Do you drink a lot of vodka?
Aleksander: No, not a lot.
Interviewer: What does the tattoo on your back mean ?
Aleksander: It's simple. It's from the imagination of the artist who did it.
Interviewer: Who is your favorite fighter?
Aleksander: Fedor.
Interviewer: Who do yhou think would win this time around, Mirko Cro Cop or Rodrigo Nogueira?
Aleksander: Nogueira has gotten worse since they first fought, and Mirko has improved himself.
Interviewer: When are you planning to end your fighting career?
Aleksander: Not anytime soon. Maybe in ten years.
Interviewer: How do you think Fedor's career will continue to develop?
Aleksander: We don't talk about those things really. We just fight.
Interviewer: Do people in Russia know who you are?
Aleksander: Not really. I am mostly recognized in Japan.
Interviewer: What qualities should a modern fighter have to be the best?
Aleksander: All of them. If you lack in even one, then it is a weakness and you will eventually be beat by a fighter who will exploit this weakness.
Interviewer: Do you spend time on the internet and in the chat forums?
Aleksander: Yes, I do go to fighting forums and read all kinds of things.
Interviewer: What would you like to say to your fans?
Aleksander: My fighting career is in its very beginning and I hope to show my fans a lot of progress in the future. Thank you very much for your support.

Looking forward to seeing Ivan Emelianenko in the ring...
He should have decent genetics and training possibilities.

everyone keeps saying Prides HW's would own the UFC's and even though i think they would win most of the matchups it would depend on who fought who. and yes Pride has more top Heavies so it would depend on how deep you went.
AA vs Fedor to me would be a really good match. Fedor would win but i think it would be exciting
Tim Vs Alek another good matchup to me would go either way. Alek being the favorite.
Monson vs Big Nog. i know im gonna get some Sh.. for this but i think this matchup would be a good fight to watch
Vera vs Crocop. another great matchup i think Vera would shock the world in how well rounded he is.
Mir vs Barnett. come on who wouldnt want to see this fight. i know Mir got own'd by Vera but this is a good match up on paper
Chuck vs Hunt. i know Chuck's not a HW but while were dreaming of a Pride/UFC super fight show. this would be freakin awesome.
to me those are some competitive HW matchs. yeah i would say all the Pride guys would be the betting favorites in those fights but i would bet my house that all of the Pride guys dont win and i would bet that every fight would be exciting. even the Tim/Alek match.
Now seriously alot of people on here claim to be fighting fans capable of breaking down fights objectivly. tell me why a UFC/Pride card wouldnt work if these were the matchups. also take into consideration that it is widly thought Pride is the superior HW division so really they both would stand to lose the same amount of credibility win or lose.

the fights you mentioned don't really sound that great. Like you said, the Pride guys pretty much have the advantage in every single fight. I don't like one organization to hate the other one. I watch both promotions. But let's admit that the heavyweight division in pride outclasses the ufc one by quite a lot. Vera's one of my favorite fighters, but against Crocop??? I wouldn't bet on it, and frankly, i'm pretty sure vera would agree.

It would be so one-sided, I don't see how it could be exciting.
Fedor might even drop AA standing, but most likely he'd just take him down and pound him and pound him and pound him.
I think AA's ground game is overrated with all the hype about him being the "Sambo Junior World Champ". He'd have no shot on the ground.

Agreed. I wanna see this fight.

Monson vs Big Nog. i know im gonna get some Sh.. for this but i think this matchup would be a good fight to watch.

I think Monson actually would have a shot at beating Nog like Barnett. But it wouldn't be as good of a fight imo.

Vera vs Crocop. another great matchup i think Vera would shock the world in how well rounded he is.
|
So, how do you think his well-roundedness would come into play? Vera's stand-up is great, but he's no Crocop. And he wouldn't take down the man with the best TD-defense in the game.
Crocop wins.
Quote:
|
Mir vs Barnett. come on who wouldnt want to see this fight. i know Mir got own'd by Vera but this is a good match up on paper

We're talking about the #3 HW in the world versus Frank Mir. Barnett easily.
Quote:

Chuck vs Hunt. i know Chuck's not a HW but while were dreaming of a Pride/UFC super fight show. this would be freakin awesome.

That would be a fun fight, but Chuck would obviously have to fight PRIDE's MW-champ in such an event.

I wouldn't put THAT much faith in Monson and Chuck.

It's widely thought that way among hardcore mma-fans, but I'm sure a huge part of UFC followers think UFC is top dog.

If Vera was nervous about fighting Mir. He'd probably have a heart attack if he had to take on Mirko.

It would be a cool match to see. But, the stare down would be the best part! Vera might piss himself, LOL. Seriously though, I bet those butterflies in his guts would be hard to handle. I wonder how long it would take for Mirko to KO Vera with a left high kick?

I think Mirko would put Vera to sleep in the 1st round with that kick.
Vera is a good fighter, but he might not be ready to handle a kick of that caliber.
