Default Welcoming Cro Cop and Rampage?

I decided this because of all the upsides to decent upset fights in UFC 66 other than the headliner, I was upset having attended the fight this nasty "How Dare YOu" mentality when announced Cro Cop and Rampage were signed and part of UFC 67.

I must have been the only one of 18,000 people that cheered and freaked out when their names were announced. One guy gets pissed when I yelled out funnily "Tim Sylvia better start training now" and I heard a lot of idiotic remarks from people all over the stands like "Isnt Jackson just a Pride fighter?"

This thread is addressed to every freakin retard that thinks they know MMA just because they watched TUF III...... But at the same time, you cannot tell me with sellout crowds of 18 g's plus that most of them are this MMA retarded????

I mean why can't UFC fans welcome Cro Cop or Rampage? The level of disrespect shown is something that unless you were there you couldnt understand.

When rampage is treated like a second class citizen by UFC fans, I guess I'm just waiting for him to freakin clean The Iceman's clock!

I'd cheer for Cro Cop, but with the UFC hw division? He doesent need cheerleaders.

In time, UFC fans will warm up to Anderson Silva, Rampage and Cro Cop, I am sure of it. All three are exciting fighters (as well as very talented of course) and that's what the fans like.

I know they will because those fighters are so outstandingly dominant. I just didnt appreciate the nastinest of how it was. It was just wrong. I mean purely idiotic.

That's why I cannot wait for how easy it will be for them in the UFC! And then newer UFC fans who think Chuck Liddell and Tim Sylvia are the only MMA guys in the world go WTF??????7

I think the UFC fans act like that because all the people in these forums put down the UFC fighters and talk how great the fighters are in Japan. But soon all you UFC haters will be on the wagon when Pride lets a few more slip away.

I didn't get the reaction either. I don't think alot of people realize what they're about to see. Anderson Silva was just the start, but c'mon CroCop and Rampage, I'm as excited as hell! UFC just signed 2 outstanding fighters who will go straight to the top, and the ingnorant fans will jump on the bandwagons.

Its just the way people are. In general, people are stupid. That isnt about a single person or anything but its more of how people just believe what they want to believe regardless of facts to the contrary. Also, and I hate to say this but I believe its true of a lot of people and their attitudes, Cro-Cop isnt American. That right there instantly makes some people not like him. Additionally, with the UFC getting more popular and more mainstream, its becoming one of those types of events where its "in" to be seen attending one. Wheather or not the person knows jack-squat about the sport, its the popular venue to go see so they do it. You cant tell me that Steffi Graffe, Parris Hilton, Pam Anderson, and several of the other female and sometimes male celebs that have been shown are simply there for the love of the sport. I would be willing to bet that some of them couldnt name five MMA fighters other than the ones that were on the card they just saw.

People that are the hardcore fans, which is what I guess you could call us that come here to post and what not, are going to be very excited about something like this because we know what these fighters are capable of and what it will mean to the UFC. Casual fans that only watch the UFC since TUF came out and doesnt even know what Pride is simply dont appreciate what the UFC is getting.

Like Ryduce said, as soon as one of Cro-Cops left roundhouse kicks sprays some teeth across the first six rows, they will be ready to enshrine him and sing hymns in his name. Ryduce had it exactly right....the crowd is fickle.

I dont see it as a big deal, CroCop will slaughter who ever is put in front of him and as SnowPatrol said, once that happens, people will flock to the CroCop bandwagon by the droves.

It's so true, UFC has no one who even stands a chance against CroCop. I for one, can't wait to see Tim Sylvia get ktfo... oh that will be a happy day for me.

And Rampage, he already beat Chuck once.... we could see two "AMATUER" (hahahahahaha) "Pride" guys take titles within their first couple of fights.

Im not going to go so far as to say no one in the UFC stands a chance against Cro-Cop. Some of the guys in the HW and LHW devision are very prolific strikers and a striker that is any good always has a chance. Just look at what Randleman did. He threw that punch in order to set up a shot to take him down. I seriously doubt he thought that shot would land and bam, right on the chin. Stuff happens in MMA.

It's just ignorance. I don't really talk MMA unless it's @ the gym or my friends. Sometimes w/ these kids at school, but they know next to nothing about MMA.

That to be expected from UFC fans at live events - I know Cro Crop will be great in the UFC and jump up the ranks fast. As for Rampage - eh.. take away his knees to the head and he has to come up with something new. Chuck isn't gonna loose to Rampage again. Your dealing with two different fighters today. Will be a good fight - Just expect Check to keep his belt for at least another year.

I dunno i think rampage will bring something to chuck he hasnt seen since.. well since he fought rampage the last time. It seems to me that everyone that has fought chuck recently has seemed to forget their game plan and played right into chucks(especially babalu, god i hated that fight), and i think rampage will just remember how he beat chuck before and do the same

From a bunch of people I've spoken to, this also wasn't the typical UFC Las Vegas crowd. There were not nearly the same amount of hardcore MMA fans as there were New Year's Eve party people who decided to make the UFC event part of their holiday weekend package. Its not like the rooms were cheap, the MGM Grand was going for $750 a night plus in mid November when I was looking to attend.

Even the celebrity / UFC fighter turnout was different than normal because of the holiday.

The only footage they had of either fighter was Rampage in the WFA.

Its still no excuse for the poor greetings, but it may just explain it a bit. It also reinforces the fact that the majority of MMA fans in the states are not as diverse as we'd like to think they are. Its one of the things that makes forums like these so helpful in expanding fan's knowledge.

The UFC fans will see who Mirko is soon enough.

Well I don't know about the 18,000 guys that were around you but I was cheerin... This is what I belive the problem is. TUF... I like the show but that show has made this sport a "fad" IMO.. Allot of us have been watching this stuff long before spike picked it up. Since spike EVERYONE knows who the ufc is and MANY have watched.. The reason they talked down on pride is because they are uneducated about it.. I even used to get a bit defensive when a few people would tell me that Pride has the "better" fighters.. Well in doing some research I found that to be the case in allot of areas.. Do I think PRIDE is better than UFC? No.. But I think they do have as a whole some better fighters.. Like others have mentioned people will change their view when Rampage gives Chuck a hell of a run or his loss of the title.. Then they will straight shat themselves when Mirko starts kickin heads off into the 35 row..
For the record, I do like TUF.. I feel it has brought allot of much needed money into the sport and helped introduced allot of now loyal fans to it.. But in with the good come the bad and those are the people are are into it just to be into it and have no idea(or want to learn) about anything thats going on besides the drama or blood.. Thats my .02

That's totally true. I was fortunate that my seat and row mates were ok, it was like two or three rows down when I yelled TIM SYLVIA BETTER START TRAINING NOW! when they announced Cro Cop and people were all like Who the hell is Cro Cop??? And I just shook my head as to the stupidity. Then walking out of the arena there was this one chick saying "Who's that Black guy with chains on. Isnt he just a Pride Fighter?"

I've been to 9 other UFC events the last 5 years in Vegas and most of the time the crowd is very knowledgeable. I mean you'll always have those hardcore drunks in the crowd, but they tend to be few and far in other events. Even Leben noticed how many drunks there were at this event when after he got choked saying "I fight for all you fans except you drunks out there who always boo!" He was right on the money. My wife thinks it may be because this is New Year's eve and most people stay home with family and friends for the holiday's. So the ones who showed may have been just fly by night people who wanted to go to a main Vegas event on a holiday weekend.

Rogan said it best as i've said it before. When I heard both cro cop and rampage coming over last month? It was like an early christmas gift for any MMA fan.

I simply cannot wait for their debut matches.
